Junior Counselor Position Title: Junior Counselor Department: DPW / Recreation Employment Status: Chapter 7 Ordinance, Non-Exempt; Seasonal Salary: \$15.75 per hour Certifications/Licenses: MA Driver\'s License Class D Preferred; Certifications in Adult/Pediatric First Aid and C.P.R. SUMMARY The City of Chicopee\'s Department of Public Works / Recreation Division is hiring a Junior Counselor for the OPEE Adventures to plan, direct, and supervise children. Oversee all activities and work with other staff members to aid in all facets of the program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE Group supervision of campers with attention to all the following: program, health, happiness, discipline, cleanliness, safety, routine duties, character, and skill development. Be concerned for the social adjustment of each camper. Help campers plan, carry out and evaluate projects and activities. Take turns with other counselors for various responsibilities. Teach or assist with program and encourage camper participation. Exhibit personal habits, health, dress, speech, and relationships with other staff that serve as a beneficial model to campers. Promote camper participation in all activities. Schedule all activities and programming prior to the sessions beginning. QUALIFICATIONS To be minimally qualified for this position, one must meet the following criteria: High School diploma or equivalent (Preferred) At least one (1) year of experience in a camp setting. Age requirement of 18+ OR 17 years old if you have attended the Leaders in Training Program. Preferred that staff member has experience working with the youth. MA Class D Driver\'s License (Preferred) with Insurable Driving Record Certifications in Adult/Pediatric First Aid and C.P.R. This role is classified as Group 4, Section II, v. of the City of Chicopee\'s Chapter 7 Ordinance paying \$15.75 per hour.
