Emerson Hospital Medical Assistant/Clinic Office Coordinator/GI in Concord, Massachusetts
Reports to the Practice Manager and works under the direct super vision of the Physician(s). The Medical Assistant/Clinical Office Coordinator is responsible for providing back up administrative and clinical support to the office in support of the physician, nurse practitioner, LPN and to work with other medical assistants ensuring patient preparation and supporting the physician(s) with clinical and office duties.
Greet patients upon arrival, maintains orderliness of reception area and front desk ensuring patient confidentiality.
Captures and enters high quality patient demographic and financial information.
Identifies insurance coverage and payer requirements for hospital services, processes insurance verification, prior authorizations and other basic benefit information for patients
Obtaining insurance referrals from PCP offices
Assist with billing functions and work with the billing company.
Preparation of patients charts by obtaining medical records from outside source
Processes patients quickly & accurately through computer based scheduling system for future appointments and/or testing as appropriate for patient care.
Phone management including scheduling appointments, taking detailed messages, and maintaining phone message information in EMR.
Delegating phone calls to appropriate personnel
Basic triage on why patient is seeing provider. Able to give report to provider before they see the patient
Prepares patients for physician (including vital signs prior to exam). Enters all medical information into EMR
Assists physician during examination
Follow up to patients with routine or abnormal results following physician’s evaluation of tests
Answers incoming patient calls regarding medical questions and respond accordingly
Orders necessary office, medical supplies and ensures security of all medications.
Cover Endo procedure booking
Scheduling of MRI’s, CT Scans, and Ultrasound testing
Maintains and supports patient’s rights to care, privacy and respect.
General administrative support
Other duties as assigned from time to time
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required completion of a Medical Assistant course preferred.
Experience: Two to Four years of relevant work experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical/physician’s office preferred. One to three years Administrative Assistant/Medical Office preferred. Gastroenterology experience helpful
Licensure and/or Certification: State Certification preferred but not required.
Strong computer skills, GE Centricity electronic medical record (EMR) and Meditech are preferred and the ability to maintain confidential information is necessary.
Strong multi tasking skills, computer skills, interpersonal communication skills on the phone and in person, customer service skills, phenomenal attention to detail, flexibility, medical terminology.
