Welchs Sr. Packaging Innovation Engineer in Concord, Massachusetts

We're looking for a Sr. Packaging Innovation Engineer to work with our Process & Packaging Sr. Director and multiple cross-functional teams to support and lead R&D Packaging initiatives, including but not limited to Innovation, Line Extension and Renovation projects, as well as Discovery & Scouting of new packaging technologies and innovation solutions. What You'll Do: Lead and execute structural packaging projects, from ideation through design, prototyping, testing & validation, commercialization and launch Actively participate in ideation and consumer research sessions in collaboration with Product Development, Marketing and Consumer Insights partners Conduct ideation, external scouting and evaluation of new technologies and innovation solutions aligned with Welch's strategic priorities and growth plans, including rigid and flexible primary and secondary packaging Contribute to the development and update of the R&D Packaging technology and innovation roadmap Who You Are: Passion for design, understanding consumers and innovation Technically sound and curious; enjoys challenges and problem solving Detailed oriented and fast learner Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills Hands on, resourceful and decisive; seeks practical approaches with a bias for action to quickly build and demonstrate new ideas and concepts Flexible and comfortable in undefined situations typical of early innovation stages Applies a growth mindset through continuous experimentation and learning Strong cross-functional collaborator able to work across various functions including Procurement, Operations and Marketing, among others Able to work effectively in innovation cross-functional teams providing technical leadership and quick prototyping to develop new ideas and concepts What You'll Need: Required Minimum 5 years of a proven Packaging Innovation track record with successful launches in market for Food & Beverage or CPG companies Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Packaging Engineering or related fields. MS preferred Broad experience on a diverse set of product and packaging formats, including but not limited to rigid plastics, flexibles, glass, metal and secondary packaging Management of external resources like suppliers, testing labs and prototyping firms Technical leadership of projects commercialization, scale up and launch Understanding of project management principles General knowledge of filling and packaging equipment Desired Design for manufacturability Experience with active participation in qualitative consumer research studies Industrial design firms management Technology scouting and open innovation Food & beverage filling & packaging equipment and operations Cross-functional teams leadership What You'll Enjoy: Collaborative colleagues working together to deliver results.
