State of Massachusetts Accountant II in Danvers, Massachusetts
The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is seeking motivated and dedicated candidates for the position of Accountant II for the Northeast Regional Business Office located in Danvers. The Business Office isresponsible for the purchasing of goods, contracting for services and managing Accounts Payable fora Regional Office, 5 Area Offices, the Hogan Regional Center and over 75 residential homes. Dutiesand Responsibilities(thesedutiesareageneralsummaryandnotallinclusive): * Establishes andmaintains databases/data specific tofleet management andoversight, including departmental vehicle inventory, fuel credit cards issued to driving staff, and associated vehicle records, services and expenses. * Manages incoming Purchase Order Requests by reviewing information for accuracy and data entering the relevant information inExceltoassign a Purchase Order number. * EntersPurchaseOrderRequestdataintotheMassachusettsManagementAccountingandReportingSystem(MMARS) * Entering payment transactions in MMARS * Reviews invoices andcorresponding proof ofdelivery for accuracy prior toprocessing for payment. * Learns allfacets of Business Office activities andperforms related duties as required. * Forecasting expenses and management of accounts (e.g., utilities/ comcast/ IT payments) is an essential function. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:Applicants must have (A) two years of full-time or equivalent part-time, general accounting or budgeting experience, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Incumbents may be required to have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Driver's License at a class level specific to assignment. Substitutions: I. An Associate's degree with a major in accounting, finance or business may be substituted for one year of the the required experience. II. A Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, finance or business may be substituted for the required experience. Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines.
