State of Massachusetts Adaptive Clothing Designer in Danvers, Massachusetts

_THE WORK LOCATION FOR THIS POSITION IS AT THE HOGAN REGIONAL CENTER IN DANVERS, MA._

DDS would like to announce the availability of aTemporaryPart-Time Adaptive Clothing Designer position working in the Northeast Region for the Hogan Regional Center. The primary purpose of the Adaptive Clothing Designer is to design, fabricate, alter and repair adaptive garments and devices.

_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_

  • Designs, fabricates, alters, covers, and repairs adaptive garments and devices by hand or machine sewing using various types of stitches.

  • Measures, marks, create layouts, and cut the chosen materials to ensure proper fit of the needed equipment. Develops and designs patterns to be used on a long term basis.

  • Determines the proper use of materials, determining construction and closures etc.

  • Orders materials and supplies used in the fabrication of the assistive technology pieces that involve this position including; cloth, upholstery, threads, grommets, strapping, buckles.

  • Visits various departments and sites as needed for fittings, consultations etc.

  • Participates in the regular cleaning and maintenance of the shop area and equipment, to insure safe and efficient operation.

  • As workload allows, will assist other staff with inventory control and office administrative duties.

_Pre-Hire Process:_

A criminal background check (CORI) will be completed on the recommended candidate as required by the regulations set forth by the Executive Office of Health and Human Services prior to the candidate being hired. In addition, Chapter 234 of the Acts of 2014, An Act Requiring National Background Checks, requires the Department of Developmental Services to conduct fingerprint-based check of the state and national criminal history databases on the recommended candidate. ALL EMPLOYEES ARE PAID ON A BI-WEEKLY BASIS AND MUST HAVE DIRECT DEPOSIT.
