THE WORK LOCATION FOR THIS POSITION IS IN DANVERS, MA. The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated candidate for the position of Plumber and Steamfitter II. The Plumber and Steamfitter II is responsible for the plumbing and heating maintenance at Hogan Regional Center in Danvers. Duties and Responsibilities: * Responsible for all Plumbing and heating maintenance, repairs, installations, planning. * Supervision of the Plumber I * Responsible for any permitting required for plumbing and gas fitting throughout the facility * Responsible for ordering stock and maintaining an adequate inventory of plumbing supplies to ensure the operational integrity of the facility * Responsible for the repair, installation and maintenance of grease traps, valves, piping, drains, toilets, faucets, and other plumbing fixtures * Responsible for sprinkler systems, sanitary sewage, steam piping, and gaseous transmission * Responsible for all permitting and standing inspections for any Plumbing, heating, and gas, work performed. * Reviews all reports submitted by employees under his supervision * When required assists outside contractors toward the completion of their projects * Assist’s maintenance management in planning, pricing and the ordering of materials * Responsible for design and layout of plumbing and Gas fitting projects * Installs, maintains, and, repairs hot and cold water, steam and sewage lines, valves, steam traps, radiators, heaters, toilets, sinks, showers, tubs, sprinkler systems, and other related fixtures and systems above and below ground, all gas lines and their appurtenances, grease traps and their logs * Estimates labor and materials needed to perform work orders assign to the Plumbing dept * Responsible for ensuring that all tasks are performed in a safe and efficient manner and ensure the facility is in compliance with all state code requirements * Follows all policies and procedures of the dept. and facility * Responsible for ensuring that all plumbing dept. work order slips are filled out correctly and returns them upon completion of the task to the maintenance supervisor * Replaces or repairs dishwashers and washing machines as needed * Communicate with Plumber I on job assignments and their progress until completion * Report to a maintenance foreman/manager on job planning, progress, and job completion * Ensures the facility follows state plumbing and gas codes * All Hogan Maintenance Staff are to use facility issued equipment to communicate during work hours * Must wear safety equipment and hi viz clothing supplied by the facility This position is designated as an "EMERGENCY" Position in the Department of Developmental Services Emergency Plan. This means that whenever the Governor declares that the Commonwealth is in a state of emergency, you will be required to report to work. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in plumbing and steamfitting.
