GENERAL FUNCTION

Ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are satisfied when preparing and shipping hazardous materials and chemicals. Serves as administrator for the shipping/receiving department. Coordinates shipments (non-hazardous) to customers, as well as International shipments. Maintains inventory for Gentex supply store. As a member of a high performance team, you will be responsible for a variety of jobs. As the team progresses, you, along with your team members will be a key decision maker in the operation of your part of the business.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare all documentation in preparation for the shipment of coating hazardous materials.

  • Ensure all chemical and hazardous shipments are in compliance with legal and regulatory mandates such as IATA.

  • Prepares bill rates and coating shipments for EOA, keeps records of all shipments, particularly hazardous materials and chemicals. Works closely with EOA to ensure customers are billed correctly.

  • Prepare other shipments as necessary. Backup for domestic shipments. Communicate with freight carriers and schedule shipments

  • Manage stock in company supply area by recording items removed and ensuring adequate replacement stock.

  • Prepares International shipments

  • Manage inventory and distribution of polar wafers. Ensures FIFO inventory. Picks stock based upon scheduling.

  • Provide backup for the Materials Manager as required.

  • Perform month-end reporting.

  • Be the contact person for HazMat and International shipments

  • Enter OPC Codes into AS400 for all new products. (ex. OPC, FOP, BOX Quantity and unit of measure).

  • Receive the orders for coating liquids. Ensures purchase order price is correct. Communicates acknowledgement of purchase order with customer and sends order to coating manufacturing.

  • Assure the compliance of the objectives and goals of health, safety, and environment.

  • Complete documentation of shipments to ensure that they are in compliance with customs rules and regulations.

  • Is an active member of department and facility teams. Actively participates and shares knowledge with team members and other teams. Challenges the team with new ideas and models good work habits. Attends and participates in internal team meetings. Supports the success of the team and takes initiative and responsibility to ensure the team’s goals and objectives are met. Helps others to achieve and succeed with team objectives and supports the growth and development of his/her team.

  • Supports the facility’s policies and procedures and is responsible for a healthy and safe team environment.

  • Takes pride and ownership in his/her own work, the facility and the team area.

  • Participate and or supports in the STARpoint system and/or other teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in inventory, specifically importing and exporting; or a Bachelor’s degree in related field i.e business administration, economics, or political science.

  • Understanding of International Trade and import/export regulations, customs and FDA.

  • Detail oriented with excellent follow up and problem solving skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of AS400/MAPICS a plus
