PrimeFlight Aviation Services Aviation Safety Manager in East Boston, Massachusetts

Essential Functions:

The Airline Ground Safety Manager reports to the Director, Safety, Security, & Quality North America and is responsible for the following:

Achievement of departments and company goals

  • Implementation of Safety and Health programs designed to reduce Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) injuries, violations, and ground damages

  • Comply with regulatory requirements in the Safety Management System (SMS)

  • Provide guidance on Occupation Job Injuries (OJI) Prevention, Ground Damage Prevention, and Regulatory Compliance (OSHA)

  • Review and Support injury investigations, Aircraft investigations and vehicle investigations

  • Support Industrial Hygiene as required

  • Assist with abating issues related to citations or regulatory activity from a variety of agencies, including; Federal & State OSHA and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)

  • Support Stations in their use of safety performance measurement tools, such as Line Operation Safety Assessments (LOSA), OSHA Facility Audits, Job Safety Assessments (JSA's) and Job Hazard Assessments (JHA's)

  • Support departments with implementation of “SMS” Station Safety Plan

  • Support the development and the maintenance of Safety Action Teams (SAT) & Station Safety Meetings

  • Provide advice resource regarding changes in systems or facilities in order to reduce risk of injury or damage to assets

  • Support the development and activities of the Safety Evaluation Team program (Safety Supervisors)

  • Support Station with ergonomic assessments and by identifying and implementing corrective action

  • Provide a wide variety of safety communication and information using a multi-media approach. Support Operational managers with Safety briefings

  • Support Stations in their review of the safety metrics, including employee injury, aircraft ground damage and other ground equipment damage

  • Demonstrate regular, predictable attendance at job location

  • Carry out other duties as assigned

Competency:

Oversees and primary responsibility for Safety, OSHA and FAA regulatory compliance at PrimeFlight. The manager is responsible to have knowledge of federal OSHA and local Safety requirements (i.e. state, city). The manager must have a proven track record for decisive actions continuous improvement, goal-directed leadership and service-oriented performance. This manager will deliver results through leadership, direction, alignment and motivation. Manage and successfully lead a team comprised of safety supervisors. This leader coordinates local safety and compliance efforts with leadership and coordinates investigations, analysis, and reporting for incidents, accidents, injuries and issues of regulatory non-compliance. Serves as primary liaison between PrimeFlight Safety and PrimeFlight Management.

Education/Experience:

Required: Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience in Safety , Working knowledge of OSHA requirements. Preferred Bachelor’s degree OSHA 10-30 certified.

Compensation

The pay rate listed on this post, is what the company reasonably expects to pay for this position. However, individual compensation may vary based on factors including qualifications, skills, competencies, education, and experience.

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid Driver’s License with a clean and verifiable driving record.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Computer Skills:

Working knowledge is required in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and other related tasks.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Ensure staff adheres to all PrimeFlight guidelines and safety standards. Assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Manage and successfully lead a team comprised of safety supervisors

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may become high at various times. Employee must be willing to wear/utilize company-supplied personal protective equipment (hearing protection) to mitigate their noise exposure.
