Sustainability Coordinator The City of Easthampton is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Sustainability Coordinator to administer and organize efforts to promote environmental, energy, economic, and social sustainability. This role involves managing the City\'s Climate Action Plan in collaboration with departments, residents, and businesses while also developing and advancing sustainability initiatives. Key responsibilities include project management, research, data collection, grant applications and administration, with opportunities for coordination and contributions to policy development, comprehensive master plans, economic development strategies, and housing initiatives. Job Type: Full Time, 34 Hours Per Week, Monday - Thursday Salary: \$26.64 - \$31.81 Per Hour ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Pursues the execution of the Climate Action Plan and pursues associated grants and public outreach under the supervision of the Director of Public Works. Manages and maintains the City\'s status as a Green Community through energy usage reporting, ensuring compliance with designation criteria, and pursuing grants for energy efficiency projects. Keeps current on Department of Energy Resources (DOER) criteria updates. Manages ongoing energy efficiency projects such as Municipal Aggregation, public EV Charger installation, municipal EV fleet conversion, solar energy facilities and accounts, public heat pump program, and building efficiency and electrification. Provides staff-level clerical and technical support to the Energy Advisory Committee and Biodiversity, Environment, & Ecological Sustainability Committee (BEES); gives project updates and makes recommendations to the Committees. Maintains files and attends all meetings of the BEES Committee. Works and interacts with regional organizations and planning groups to collaborate on multi-municipality projects. Acts as the liaison to state agencies associated with climate, energy, and sustainability-related matters and maintains an understanding of the currently listed goals of said agencies. Works and interacts with other departments, board and committee members, and the public on a regular basis. Provides information and technical assistance on routine and complex planning matters regarding sustainability, energy efficiency, and current private and public projects. Researches and reviews building and development projects for climate resiliency, energy use, and sustainable practices. Responds to public inquiries received by phone, email, or in person; coordinates responses and provides guidance as needed. Assists the public in pursuing electrification and associated grants or incentives. Promotes incentives and up-to-date information to the public and local businesses. Coordinates and supports consultation with multiple city departments and members of the public (including environmental justice communities) throughout project development and implementations. Maintains knowledge of current State and federal grant opportunities, policies, goals, and climate-related science and best practices. Performs similar or related work and special projects as required or as the situation dictates. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor\'s degree in Environmental Policy, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Planning, or a closely related field; and a minimum of 2 years of closely related experience; municipal experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
