Summary

The position is responsible for assisting the Assistant Regional Census Manager or designated supervisor in the management of all field, office, and evaluation operations for Decennial Operations including the Census Coverage Management and Quality Assurance operations.

This is a work-at-home (WAH) position.In order to be considered, APPLICANTS MUST RESIDEin one of the following MA counties: Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, or Suffolk.

Relocation expenses will not be paid.

Responsibilities

The individual selected for this position will:

  • Develops and maintains a wide variety of outside contacts with local civic associations, businesses, religious groups, and other community-based organizations.
  • Works with local organizations to promote the census.
  • Responsible for the overall management, oversight, and close control of field, office, and evaluation operations of the Area Census Office.
  • Provides coordination, technical direction, observes field observations, and provides analytical and logistical support in the Regional Census Center.
  • Monitors the cost and progress reports of field, office, and evaluation activities to assure operations are conducted on schedule and within budgeted allocations.
  • Takes necessary actions to correct operations which are beginning in schedule or which have costs in excess of budgeted allocations.
  • Performs or directs the recruiting, interviewing, testing, selection, and induction of new employees, develop a strategic plan for ACO enumeration and recruitment.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience:

For the GG-13, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.

Experience for this position includes supervising a staff; analyzing and monitoring the quality of work; using knowlege of data collection procedures and techniques to resolve problems related to the review; analyzing and researching information to write technical reports; determining and implementing recruiting goals; and monitoring cost and progress reports to ensure successful completion field operations.

Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
