Night Shift Brewing Events Manager in Everett, Massachusetts

S   ummary ​ ​ of ​ ​ Position: 

Night Shift Brewing is looking for an experienced Events Manager to join our team for up to 20 weeks of temporary and part-time leave coverage.

The Events Manager position is for an experienced, take charge professional with ability to manage administrative, planning and logistical duties in support of a busy special events environment. Qualified candidates will be a highly motivated and organized people person with strong project management, administrative and event experience. The right person for this position will enjoy multitasking, coordinating, and managing various projects. The position requires excellent attention to detail and strong communication and computer skills. 

Responsibilities include planning, organizing, coordinating, and providing support services for all Night Shift Brewing events at our various hospitality locations (Everett Taproom, Lovejoy Wharf Restaurant, and Night Shift Beer Gardens). These events range from small birthday parties to weddings, and corporate outings.

Essential ​ ​ Duties ​ ​ and ​ ​ Responsibilities: 

● Assist in monitoring, tracking, categorizing, and responding to all private event requests 

● Organize, plan, cater and direct all private events, ranging from table rentals to weddings and corporate events

● Meet with event clients and vendors in person and over the phone 

● Continue to hold and create new and lasting relationships with local businesses and vendors 

● Accurately receive, record and track event deposits, final payments and gratuity 

● Keep a very flexible schedule as nights and weekends are to be expected (key dates of booked events will be provided to the candidate in advance)

● Manage day of event steps including setting up, coordinating vendors and timing and break down of events 

● Manage escalated day-of issues during events calmly and efficiently 

● Disseminate all event information to Management and Location Staff 

● Other duties as assigned

 

Education ​ ​ & ​ ​ Experience: 

● Bachelor’s degree preferred; significant work experience can substitute for the degree 

● TIPS and/or Serv-Safe Certified 

● Prior experience coordinating special events 

● Crowd Manager Certified 

Knowledge: 

● Proficient using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and mail merges; email and web search 

● Up-to-Date on industry trends 

● Basic understanding of Marketing strategies 

● Ability to create, understand and explain budgets and cost plans

● Understanding of upselling techniques 

● Proficient in Event Coordinating software (Tripleseat) preferred but not required 

● Strong computer skills with database management experience

Skills: 

● Excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading skills, and speaking 

● Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff and volunteers 

● Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism 

● Problem-solving, negotiating, and people management skills required 

● Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines 

● Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision 

● Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality

Physical ​ ​ Requirements: 

● Sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing 

● Seeing, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling 

● Lifting up to 55 pounds 

● Ability to stand for extended periods of time 

● Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop and wipe 

● Remain stationary for extended periods of time 

● Must be 21+ 

 

Expected Working Hours & Duration of Assignment

The Temporary Events Manager will work approximately 20-30 hours per week, for up to 20 weeks, but may be extended pursuant to business demand.

Compensation

The expected compensation range for this role is $35 - $40 per hour, depending on experience.
