Description

Eliot is seeking a dedicated Psychiatrist to join an exceptional team working with adults with serious and persistent mental illness. Our ideal candidate would have a keen sensitivity to the needs of the population and be open to engaging in consultation and risk reviews with the team.

Program for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) is designed to deliver an intensive community based array of services for individuals with mental illness who require a higher level of support, but may be resistant to traditional models of treatment. Using a team of highly trained, multi-disciplinary professionals, the PACT service is available 24/7 and does the majority of its work with individuals at home, at work or in the community through intensive and diligent outreach strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the psychiatrist for all clients served by the team. Prescribe psychotropic medications and conduct regular assessments of the therapeutic responses and side effects of medications to clients. Educate clients on all aspects of their medications.

  • Provide both office and home/community sessions to clients. Schedule at least two days per month to outreach clients at their homes or in the community. Assist the Team Leader in clinical supervision by attempting to include staff members in office and home sessions with clients.

  • Provide on-going education to clients, family members and team members on psychiatric illnesses and medications.

  • Collaborate with the Team Leader and the Lead RN in assessing client health, accessing medical care and providers and coordinating medical treatment and psychiatric care.

  • Collaborate with Team Leader in the development of trainings and in-services for staff members. Lead in-service trainings on clinical interventions, psychiatric medications, medical conditions, evidenced based practices, the recovery process and responding to the needs of consumers.

  • Collaborate with the Team Leader in taking overall clinical responsibility for monitoring client treatment and delivery of services.

  • Direct and collaborate with the Team Leader and the Lead RN to maintain and supervise the psychopharmacologic and medical treatment and procedures regarding client care.

  • Submit written reports and oral testimony of opinion in commitment hearing and other legal proceedings involving the teams’ clients.

  • Provide written orders, clinical progress notes and documentation for all client contacts on the same day of service.

  • Model for staff member’s professional behavior and clinical support to all consumers of the PACT team. This would include assisting staff in using recovery language. Assist staff members in finding respectful language that emphasizes the consumer’s perspective.

  • Attend at least two DOM meetings per week to assess client status, progress, overall treatment and provide education and solutions to staff members.

  • Attend PACT meetings as required by DMH or the Director of Mental Health Services.

Part-time or Full Time available. Flexible schedule.

    Location: Everett, MA
