The Blount family has been in the food business since 1880. Our product Line includes refrigerated and frozen gourmet soups, side dishes and entrees for food service and retail. The Company, headquartered in Fall River, MA, is the largest producer of clam chowder in New England and the largest manufacturer of Lobster bisque in the country.
Summary - The E-commerce Development Manager will have multifunctional responsibilities within the commercialization, sales and marketing areas of the business. This role will plan and coordinate with other business units to focus processes in support of e-commerce goals and objectives. Working cross-functionally on key initiatives, the EDM will collaborate and communicate with internal and external partners. The EDM will also be responsible for strategy implementation, expansion of Blount’s capabilities, and building Blount’s brand growth and equity in the e-commerce market.
Blount has three eCommerce channels; and this role will primarily focus on the first, while assisting on the second and third.
Direct to Consumer sale of Blount products through partner eCommerce sites and 3PL.
Wholesale sales of our products and customer products to eCommerce customers
eCommerce elements of our Brick and Mortar Customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Planning & Strategy
Ability to manage multiple e-commerce related vendor, service, and support relationships.
Work with marketing to define specific improvements to our website that better serve our e-commerce customers and prospects.
Collaborate with marketing to grow e-commerce traffic, including engagement through social media posts and campaigns.
Identify key metrics needed to develop accurate e-commerce performance reporting capabilities, including click rate, AOV, abandoned cart data, etc.
Assist in the development of e-commerce sales strategies.
Communicate on-going insights of the e-commerce business, customers, and marketplaces and report on trends to support category strategy.
Plan inventory for 3PL and eCommerce custom products: compare past and current sales trends to determine future inventory demand. Update the forecast team as needed.
Proactively research online marketplaces to ensure accuracy and delivery of our content, while continuously looking for ways to improve our brand position including; collaborating with marketing and 3rd party solutions to report on and improve content health and digital shelf assortments to develop best in class listings vs competing consumer product goods.
Work closely with Marketing, Commercialization, Customer Service and Sales on new item launches, pricing strategies, and distribution initiatives.
Collaborate with Marketing, Innovation and R&D to develop e-commerce packaging and product innovation and lead cross-functional teams during commercialization.
Assist marketing with the maintenance and improvement of our listings and content syndication on various marketplaces including grocery retailers and online partners such as Instacart (title, description, images, reviews, prices, product specs, customer questions- feedback, etc.) to increase product ranking and sales.
Should Blount launch its own eCommerce platform – evaluate, recommend and implement the eCommerce platform.
Work with procurement and marketing to source 3rd party fulfillment partners, on-line retailers, and supply chain partners.
Manage creation of term sheets leading to signed fulfillment agreements.
Oversee test phase of order processing and shipping.
Facilitate dispute/issue resolution with fulfillment partners.
Work cross-functionally to provide management of fulfillment centers; including administration of agreements, forecasting, supply, logistics, inventory, and planning.
Periodically review partners’ adherence to agreements, create and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as part of fulfillment scorecards.
Education and/or Experience:
S./B.A. degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, or Finance required.
5+ years related job experience in Sales, Commercialization, Marketing, or Operations required.
Must have working knowledge of E-Commerce sites/websites.
Previous experience working with a Sales organization is preferred.
Experience working with retail/CPG market data sources such as IRI preferred.
