Jr. Mechanical Engineer

Description

Responsibilities:

This person will serve as a junior Mechanical Engineer, contributing to the design and development of the mechanical/electromechanical systems on the Iver AUV and provide Engineering support for existing products.

Specific Duties:

Provide detailed design models of all Iver mechanical components using Solidworks.

Design and prototype new components to rapidly test changes and improvements.

Testing and documentation of new designs.

Fabricate/Machine Prototype parts using a CNC lathes and Mills.

Assist in the testing and qualification of the Iver AUV.

Assist in the integration of new sensors to support growth and customer opportunities.

Assist OceanServer Purchasing Department to select vendors for purchased mechanical components

Assist QC Dept to verify compliance of incoming purchased parts with required specs

Interface with machine shops that will be fabricating components.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 2 years as mechanical development engineer on primarily maritime products and solutions

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.

  • Must be extremely proficient with Solidworks, composing large full system models.

  • Must have strong attention to detail and accuracy as well as the ability to work on many designs simultaneously.

  • Must have demonstrated ability to work effectively across groups of diverse disciplines.

  • Experience in designing water tight pressure vessels in the 300 PSI pressure range; o-ring design, carbon fiber tubes, machined sealing caps, rotary seals for shafts that exit the pressure hull.

  • Must have experience in fabricating / machining parts using CNC Lathes and Mills

  • Must have experience with 3d Printers. Designing parts to be 3d Printed, and how to maintain the actual machines doing the printing.

  • Must have experience with rapid prototype design.

  • Experience developing 3D models and detailed drawings
