Job Description:

The purpose of the Systems Engineering and Integration and Test engineer position is to synthesize and define test processes for complex Autonomous Undersea Vehicle (AUV) systems. Coordinate assembly level through system level integration and test activities and ensure that technical obligations are fulfilled.

Summary: Subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project management. Manages large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction. Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches. Makes significant improvements in processes, systems, or products. Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.

Nature of Supervision: Work is guided by individual annual goals and objectives with minimal oversight or direction. Frequently responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees across the Company within area of expertise. Frequently responsible for managing large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance to the organization, involving large cross-functional teams.

Communication: Communicates within and outside of the organization which include customers or vendors. Works to influence others to accept individual or team’s views or practices and changes to concepts, practices and approaches. Communicates with leadership regarding matters of importance to the functional or business area. May conduct briefings with leaders.

Essential Functions:

  • Synthesize and define Software System architecture, requirements, and interfaces for complex Autonomous Undersea Vehicle (AUV) systems

  • Coordinate system level requirements internally and among subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Work with Project Engineer, other engineers and other departments to ensure that all technical contractual obligations are fulfilled.

  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) development

  • Adhere to budget and schedule commitments supported Earned Value Management reporting.

  • Support Proposal and Business Development efforts including developing technical architectures, generating basis of estimates, and performing trade studies.

  • Perform engineering design analysis to establish validity of designs.

  • Prepare and review design documentation in accordance with contract requirements and/or internal standards.

  • Lead and support the test and integration of products/systems

  • Draft technical performance specifications and assist Purchasing Department with procurement of items as necessary

  • Leads technical analysis and design with customers and suppliers

  • Leads systems engineering tasks for both manual and automated test processes

  • Experience working on DoD programs

  • Experienced Integration and Test Engineer - requirements validation and verification, developing and executing tests, hands on with hardware and software, generating Test Plans and Test Reports, data analysis, ability to provide clear/concise status and maintain schedule

  • Create, deploy, and sustain automated test solution

  • Develop and manage a test program, generate test plans, test procedures, requirements traceability, test reports, test flow, and test case design and implementation

  • Execute system, CCA and component level functional testing and document results

  • Use software tools and perform scripting and software/hardware troubleshooting

  • Setup, configure, and document hardware and software systems under test, including loading software onto multiple devices to perform verification and validation

  • Initiates and executes root cause analysis and correction action

  • Support Operations in failure trend analysis and ensure failure trends are quickly and effectively identified and resolved

  • Provide technical consultation to internal organizations and/or customers

  • Manages continuous improvement efforts

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related field and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience, Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

  • 3+ years of experience with Project and team leadership

  • 3+ Experienced Integration and Test Engineer - designing and implementing automated test stations, managing and mitigating risks related to testing, ability to work independently

  • 3+ Understanding of and experience with UUVs / AUVs and US Navy Programs

  • Ability to work 100% onsite

  • Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain Secret Clearance

  • Capable of traveling domestically up to 10%

  • Must be able to sit or stand for up to nine hours

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Technical Software Used: IBM Rational DOORS, Cameo Systems Modeler, Cameo MagicDraw, Imatest, LabVIEW, JIRA, Confluence, MS Project, NI TestStand, Python

  • Software used: Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint, Outlook E-mail

  • Test Hardware: DC Power Supplies, Digital Multi-Meters, Oscilloscope, Signal Generator, RF Signal Generator, Spectrum Analyzer, Noise Figure Analyzer, Scaler Analyzer, Fiber Optic Scope Meter

  • Understanding of systems engineering concepts

  • Knowledge of Environmental Qualification test such as Thermal, Acoustic Noise, Hydrostatic Pressure, Self-Compatibility EMI test, Vibration tests

  • Knowledge of communications systems, software languages, automated software

  • Desired skills include requirements analysis and verification, software scripting and usage of automated testing frameworks and applications

  • Presentation and communication skills (Verbal/written/visual)

  • Problem solving skills and the ability to meet critical deadlines

  • Ability to productively contribute work, ideas, and collaboration as part of a team

  • The use of safety equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas

  • Fine motor dexterity

  • Hand-eye coordination

  • Concentrated mental/visual demand
