Taco, Inc. Supervisor, Tanks and Welding in Fall River, Massachusetts
The Supervisor, Tank and Welding coordinates the day-to-day activities of a team of production workers and welders to ensure that manufacturing operations run according to established production specifications, schedules and quality requirements. Monitors the volume and quality of output and adjusts tasks, timing, equipment set-up, or inputs so that production specifications are met and resources are used efficiently. Supervises production staff to ensure that all production tasks are performed, and all machines and equipment are operated, safely. Trains new workers in the organization's operating procedures and standards. Prepares production reports so that performance problems can be identified and resolved.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Oversees employees who work in the tank welding departments.
Works with Operations Manager, production planners and other supervisors to ensure production requirements are being met on a daily basis.
Communicates goals to production floor and personnel direction
Drives process improvement teams.
Provides a high level of welding and fabrication technical knowledge to trouble shoot production issues and determine proper fabrication methodologies.
Ensures a safe work environment by enforcing compliance with company safety policies and procedures. Runs monthly safety meetings, maintains good housekeeping and 5S practices.
Processes and approves employee payroll, timesheets, vacation and sick time
People Management
Evaluates team members to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement; collaborate on development actions and ensure resources necessary to complete actions
Cascades relevant and appropriate information about the company and department effectively and in a timely manner
Coaches and mentors for skill and knowledge development
Executes necessary responsibilities of team during absences or alternate engagement
Ensures team adheres to company policies, practices and department standards
Assigns actions and ensure completion
Reviews work quality and provides feedback and guidance to team
This position has approximately 20 direct report(s). Roles include:

19 Welders/Fabricators
Required Skills
Required:
Up to 2 years of formal post-high school specialized trade, technical school or college. Area of specialization: Welding and Fabrication
10+ years experience in the metal welding and fabrication industry
5+ years of supervisory experience in a metal fabrication facility
Ability to read, comprehend and trouble shoot welding drawings and welding procedures.
Ability to use a PC, MS Office Products, Outlook and Company ERP system.
Preferred:
Associates degree from a two-year college or technical school
5+ years in the ASME Section VIII Div 1 Pressure Vessel Industry
Experience with welding robots and automated welding equipment
