Overview

Gentiva Home Hospice is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to join our team in Fall River, MA.

Full-Time, Full Benefits

Monday - Friday Work Week, Days (Example: 8 AM - 5 PM) Flexible to meet patient and business needs.

The Volunteer Coordinator is a member of the interdisciplinary team who is responsible for representing the volunteers and advocating for volunteer services, identifying needs for volunteers, recruiting volunteers, and assigning volunteers with patients/families.

This is an hourly/non-exempt position.

Job Summary:

  • Supervises all volunteer activity in local area of service.

  • Maintains the 5% criteria per the Hospice Conditions of Participation

  • Assesses patient/family request for volunteer placement and assigns volunteer as appropriate.

  • Assists with determining recruitment needs related to service area and patient population.

  • Facilitates completion of volunteer orientation with each volunteer as well as required annual training.

  • Recruits, trains and retains volunteers for assigned area of service.

  • Recruits Administrative volunteers, Direct Care volunteers, Vigil Volunteers and Bereavement Volunteers

  • Facilitates completion of required annual volunteer health requirements, such as completion of a health screen, TB test orquestionnaire per company policy and individual state requirements.

  • Maintains frequent communication with the program volunteers.

  • Networks with community resources and represents the volunteer program within the community.

  • Represents the volunteer program in interdisciplinary team meetings while encouraging use of volunteers.

  • Serves as a liaison to facilitate communication between the volunteers and staff.

  • Oversees volunteer visit documentation as received and files appropriately in patient file.

  • Maintains volunteer recruitment and retention records.

  • Maintains personnel file on all volunteers, performs annual evaluations, on-site visits, and file updates as required.

  • Records and maintains monthly statistics of volunteer visit and time documentation.

  • Provides individual volunteer support as needed.

  • May serve as the volunteer when a volunteer is not available

  • Participates in the coordination of the patient’s hospice care and in the hospice’s quality assessment and performanceimprovement program.

  • Fulfills other activities as assigned.

  • Consistently promotes company’s core values.

  • Assists with reviewing and revising of volunteer policy and procedures.

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or four years related experience

  • Healthcare/hospice or volunteer administration experience preferred

  • Previous volunteer experience preferred

  • Must be able to operate computer, facsimile equipment, copier and cell phone

  • Ability to apply knowledge of the special needs of hospice patient and families

  • Sensitivity to the impact of life and death issues faced by individuals with terminal illness

  • CPR Certification

  • Current automobile insurance and valid driver's license
