Job Summary DRS Naval Power Systems. (DRS NPS) is a technology leader in naval power systems, power components, controls and rotating machines. DRS NPS provides engineering and manufacturing services including the design and manufacture of advanced electric machinery including high performance permanent magnet machines (from 10 to 50,000 hp), power electronics, marine turbine packages, propulsion and distribution systems and Navy and industrial HVAC equipment. DRS NPS has the resources and benefits of a large corporation but maintains a small-company feel and culture. DRS NPS is comprised of four Lines of Business (LOB) and four operational sites. Job Location: Fitchburg, MA, Milwaukee, WI or Washington DC area Position Summary The Business Development (BD) Leader will provide vision and leadership to strategically position NPS to gain market share as a provider of system level solutions that leverage our technical and production competencies. The focus for this BD Leader will be on identifying and winning system level defense contracts by developing new and expanding existing customer relationships with domestic and international defense and marine OEMs and organizations. This position will report directly to the VP BD and CTO for DRS NPS and support various LOB VPs, with strong interaction across multiple DRS Naval Power Systems operational sites, including Fitchburg, MA; Milwaukee, WI; Danbury, CT; and High Ridge, MO. Job Responsibilities Develop and execute business development plans to support the Company's short and long-term strategic plan to meet or exceed their Bookings forecast under the direction of senior leadership Maintain captures database for tactical and strategic plans Develop and communicating win themes, and ensure proposals are complete and approved in a timely manner. Overall responsibility for the accuracy and achievement of their Bookings Forecast and Plan Visit prospective, new, and existing customers on a regular basis Perform competitive market analysis. Monitor competitive activity and identify customer needs Formulate and exercise marketing plans and programs, both short and long range to ensure achievement of financial objectives, and products and services innovation Oversee and monitor Bid and Proposal and Internal Research and Development budgets Assist in the development of the planning, designing and implementing of business plans, such as, capture plans, proposal activities Recommend system level technical solutions by analyzing the changing needs of the market, identifying and anticipating trends, and evaluating options Identify, recommend and develop strategic alliances, acquisitions and/or other external business relationships Work closely with other departments and/or functions (e.g. Program Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, etc.) to coordinate customer activities, and market strategies Attend trade shows and make presentations on Company portfolio of products and services Qualifications Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 10+ years of related experience Knowledge and demonstrated track record in identifying and developing markets, new business wins, growing existing business within the defense industry Strong planning, organization, time management skills Strong interpersonal verbal, written, and presentation skills Demonstrated collaborative attitude and indirect leadership skills Proven experience in effective and successful negotiations Und
