The Arc of Opportunity JANITORIAL-MAIN ST in Fitchburg, Massachusetts
Position Summary: The Janitor/Facility team member has primary responsibility for keeping the Main St buildings clean. Duties include cleaning bathrooms and common areas, floor cleaning, vacuuming, restocking dispensers, rubbish removal, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass. Duties also include performing routine maintenance activities, such as plowing and snow removal, lawn mowing and seasonal yard upkeep.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm (40 hr/week)
Essential Functions:
Performs routine janitorial functions, including cleaning and restocking of lavatories, trash collection, vacuuming, window washing and cleaning of kitchen areas
Maintain inventory of needed janitorial supplies
Ensures proper care and upkeep of janitorial supplies and equipment
Perform sanitation procedures, general repairs, and custodial tasks
Ability to independently troubleshoot and assess problems
Physical demands include: Frequent standing, pushing, pulling, walking, stooping, lifting and twisting. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Frequent lifting and or carrying of 25lbs
Unclog toilet, sink and shower drains as needed
Landscaping including yard cleanups, plow and snow removal, use of machinery, machine maintenance and overall facility-based upkeep
Painting and minor wall repairs
Cooperative and flexible in dealing with unexpected needs for site upkeep
Computer literacy skills, Ability to utilize computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Work orders, etc.
Troubleshoot appliances
Frequent driving of facility motor vehicles, snow plow and vans
Maintain an accurate inventory of tools machinery and maintenance-related equipment and keep in good repair
Communication skills, written and oral, which convey clear and concise information in a professional and respectful manner
Perform monthly vehicle checks, and assists program/department staff in arranging vehicle servicing
On call responsibilities as assigned
Additional Expectations:
Assist Facilities manager in electronic record keeping
Commitment to agency mission and values in all interpersonal and professional relations
Attends mandatory trainings and meetings as assigned and required. Maintains all required certifications
Flexible work schedule required to address dynamic facility needs of the programs
Conducts oneself professionally, maintaining respect, following regulations and agency policies and adhering to confidentiality requirements in all assigned duties
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A Valid driver’s license and acceptable CORI is required at all times during employment with The Arc of Opportunity.
High school diploma or GED is required and two years’ experience in the building trades or custodial experience in Healthcare or School setting. Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills required.
