Description: A Operations Supervisor job in Fitchburg, MA is now accepting applications. This is a direct, permanent / benefited position with our client. To be considered for this role, you will have an Associates degree in related discipline plus 2+ years of previous supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising a motor assembly team building large, high power, state of the art, new development motors for Naval and commercial customers, ensuring cost, schedule, and quality goals are realized.

Operations Supervisor job Responsibilities:

Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Motor Manufacturing area

Assign work based on priorities set by Operations Manager and direct all motor assembly employees to assure production schedules and quality requirements are achieved

Conduct pre-shift briefing to review requirements for the day including work, safety, budget, etc.

Communicate end of shift results to Operations Manager

Open and close facility as required

Control costs and labor hour budgets by assuring effective use of all resources, materials and personnel on assigned shift

Ensure product/service quality through proper utilization of resources and adherence to applicable standards

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's polices and applicable laws and regulations

Lead activities to resolve issues and problems, identifying root cause and effecting appropriate corrective action

Monitors and enables internal and external customer satisfaction

Drives continuous improvement through deployment of best practices, such as Lean Six Sigma

Maintain and continuously improve areas, which impact on Team Member safety

Hires, manages career development, and assesses performance of assigned team members

Attend applicable internal or external customer meetings

Participate on special project teams

Support new product introduction activities

Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Qualifications:

Associates degree in related discipline plus 2+ years of previous supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred

Proficient technical expertise with demonstrated application

Navy Nuclear or Shipyard experience a plus

Previous Motor Manufacturing experience strongly desired

Experience with Mechanical Assembly desired

Experience or familiarity with Controlled Work Packages desired

Experience with Industrial Engineering concepts and 5S/6S techniques

Knowledge and familiarity with standards (ISO, AS9100, etc)

Excellent interpersonal, leadership, production planning and communication skills

Ability to work beyond scheduled shift when required

US citizen

Position requirements required lifting (up to 20 pounds)

Some occasional travel may be required
