    About This Opportunity :

    The Payroll Manager will work a hybrid schedule and will only be in office 1-2 days per week, and will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and accurate execution of payroll processes while providing essential administrative support to the entire HR team. Attention to detail, compliance knowledge, and exceptional interpersonal skills will be crucial in maintaining a productive and positive work environment for our employees.

    Key Responsibilities :

  • Oversee and manage the end-to-end payroll process, including data collection, processing, and distribution of payroll checks or direct deposits.

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll laws and regulations, including tax withholding, wage garnishments, and benefits deductions.

  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee payroll-related inquiries promptly and professionally.

  • Maintain accuracy of employee hours, salaries, deductions, and all other employment related data in both timekeeping and HRIS systems.

  • Oversee the benefit invoice reconciliation process, partnering with our Fiscal department.

  • Review and reconcile payroll reports, tax filings, and benefit deductions, including year-end activities such as W2 audits.

  • Payroll and data reporting to required agencies.

  • Continuous process improvement of all payroll and HRIS functions

  • Address any payroll-related inquiries or issues from employees in a timely and professional manner.

  • Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations and implement necessary changes to policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency.

  • Prepare and maintain payroll records and reports for auditing purposes.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.

  • Proficiency in Making Opportunity Count’s HRIS and payroll software system (ADP Workforce Now).

  • Experience in payroll management and HR support, preferably in a nonprofit or community action agency.

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll laws and regulations.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
