The Arc of Opportunity Recreation Direct Support Professional in Fitchburg, Massachusetts

Position Summary: The Arc of Opportunity is actively seeking a part–time staff to join our Saturday Recreation Program. Recreation staff work every Saturday from 10am-5 or 6 pm.

Location: Fitchburg, Massachusetts (and surrounding communities).

Hours : Saturdays from 11-4 or 10-5/6, depending on the day’s activities.

Rate: $19.50

Essential Functions:

  • Support the Family Supports and Recreation Coordinator and participants during Saturday outings into the community. These include outings to sporting events, museums, restaurants, arts and crafts venues, etc.

  • Conducts oneself professionally by maintaining respect, following regulations and agency policies and adhering to confidentiality requirements in all assigned duties

  • Attends mandatory trainings and meetings as assigned and required

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and commitment to agency mission and fundamental values

  • Frequent driving of facility motor vehicles and vans

  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Physical demands includes: Frequent standing, pushing, pulling, walking, stooping, lifting and twisting

    Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is required, experience in relevant field preferred

  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable CORI/Finger printing and driving record are required at all times during employment with The Arc of Opportunity.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; kneel, bend and carry items; and sustain periods of walking, standing, and sitting

  • Ability to physically assist individuals according to their needs

  • Ability to sustain periods of walking, standing, and sitting.

    Mental Requirements:

  • Demonstrated superior communication skills, both in verbal and written English.

  • Functional and situational reasoning to follow policy, problem solve, exercise sound judgment, prioritize multiple tasks, and manage crisis
