Medical Assistant/Scribe The Medical Assistant/Scribe is responsible for aiding our clinic in providing exceptional adult Mental Health, pediatric Mental Health, and mental health services to gender-diverse patients. Objectives & Responsibilities Work with both Mental Health and Primary Care providers to coordinate patient care. Active participation in patient care including anticipatory preparation for health maintenance and chronic health care needs, rooming patient, obtaining histories and vital signs, arranging referral and diagnostic testing appointments, doing phlebotomy including proper identification and handling of specimens, EKG?s and performing other procedures as determined relevant to the individual patient. Demonstrate critical thinking skills concerning appropriate documentation of allergies, medication updates, immunizations, past medical history diagnosis, and any other information that is added to the medical record of an individual patient. Demonstrate an understanding of the current and future needs of the patient in both chronic care and health maintenance and is able to use decision making skills to help patients meet those needs following appropriate protocols. Overall responsibility for the flow of the provider?s patient care session, able to make decisions concerning adding a patient to the schedule upon appropriate approval, providing needed information to the front desk staff concerning the work flow in the patient care area and keeping the provider informed of issues that affect the efficiency of care during the session. Document the dictated patient history, physical examination, family, social, and past medical histories as well as document procedures, lab results, dictated radiographic impressions and any other information pertaining to the patient?s encounter. Support patient care and the health care team by anticipating administrative functions requiring support including but not limited to preparing prior authorizations, participating with the approval process for medications as appropriate, monitoring clinical messaging, supporting providers with completion of patient follow up letters, updating the medical record with patient information under the guidance of the provider. Qualifications & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent Two years of relevant experience in a Mental Health or other healthcare setting is required CMA certification is preferred but not required Experience with a busy environment, requiring strong multitasking skills is required Past experience working with transgender/gender-diverse community is a strong asset Excellent interpersonal communication and skills whether in person, via the telephone and/or in writing Advanced typing/computer skills Able to work well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
