Job Title: Electrical Engineer – Renewable Energy Focus
Asplundh Engineering is seeking a detail-oriented electrical engineer with a background in medium and low voltage power system design to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a background in photovoltaic (PV) system and battery energy storage system (BESS) design and be adept in renewable energy solutions. This role will involve collaborating closely with various internal teams, including Engineering, Project Management, and Business Development, to create optimized designs that meet client requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop detailed renewable system designs, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
Manage solar project designs from inception through to construction, ensuring compliance with utility interconnection requirements and industry best practices.
Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of interconnection applications, System Impact Studies, and Interconnection Service Agreements.
Provide technical guidance and recommendations during design reviews,
Collaborate with project managers or serve as project engineer to prepare interconnection cost estimates and perform hosting capacity analyses to identify optimal project locations.
Participate in project design reviews, including evaluating single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, and site layouts for compliance with utility requirements.
Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on interconnection standards and support technical working groups both internally and externally.
Support technical closure of projects by participating in site visits, witness testing, and reviewing energization procedures.
Mentor junior engineers, sharing expertise and promoting best practices in solar design and interconnection processes.
Collaborate with business development teams through pre-application activities, including site selection analyses.
Provide technical support and guidance during the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of renewable energy systems.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in renewable energy technologies and industry trend
Identify and solve interconnection challenges, driving strategic insights and improvements in internal processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
4+ years of relevant experience in solar energy design or interconnection, preferably within a utility, solar developer, or consultancy setting.
Strong knowledge of industry-standard design codes (NEC, NESC & IEC), interconnection processes, and utility requirements.
Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, PVSyst, Helioscope).
Proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and collaboration tools (Salesforce, Teams, Power BI, SharePoint).
EIT Certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months
Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
Aptitude for analyzing data, identifying problems, and developing innovative solutions.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

Additional Information:
This hybrid position is based in Foxborough, MA, with occasional travel for project needs.
