Advocates Data Entry Payment Specialist in Framingham, Massachusetts



Our billing office seeks a payment specialist to assist with payment intake and post payments reconciliation processes. In this role, you will manually and electronically process and post a high volume of payer remittance while updating account adjustments and keeping records of account standings. Our ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience working in accounts receivables, with remittance processing, or in a similar medical billing or customer service role.

Minimum Education Required

High School Diploma/GED


  1. Accept payments and process billing statements

  2. Keep track of payment deposits from clients and insurance reconciling details.

  3. Prepare Payment batches

  4. Assess explanation of benefits (EOBs) from insurance companies

  5. Keep accurate billing records and report any discrepancies to supervisor.

  6. Perform insurance verifications for new and ongoing clients insuring that all necessary forms and documents have been completed for billing process.

  7. Submit necessary documentation to insurance carriers for reimbursement as needed.

  8. Prepare all documentation for recording and submitting third party claims.

  9. Follow up and resolve issues regarding claim denials.

  10. Perform collection activities that may include, client and insurance phone calls.

  11. Monitor current insurance requirements, regulations, and maintain updated library.

  12. Ensure that clients are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates Human Rights Policy.

  13. Attendance at staff meetings.

  14. Perform all duties in accordance with agency policies and procedures.

  15. Strictly follow all agency Performance Standards.


  1. Must have a high school diploma.

  2. Preferred at least one year experience in third party billing, knowledge of insurance carrier regulations, policies and procedures, collections and overall accounts receivable management.

  3. 1 – 3 years cash management experience

  4. Knowledge of billing software, and third party EOB and reimbursement procedures.

  5. Ability to process high volume of work

  6. Keen attention to detail

  7. Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  8. High energy level, superior interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team atmosphere.

  9. Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

  10. Ability multitask in a busy office environment.
