Ameresco Director - Project Management in Framingham, Massachusetts

Ameresco is seeking Director - Project Management to lead a team of project managers in the development and implementation of projects located nationwide, specifically; renewable natural gas (RNG) projects utilizing biomethane sources including landfill gas, wastewater treatment anaerobic digester gas, or agricultural anaerobic digester gas that is processed to achieve pipeline quality standards. This position is based at an Ameresco office location in Portland ME, Framingham, MA, or Charlotte NC, but other locations may be considered.


Lead and mentor project management team working with multidiscipline team including project development, engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations to;

Oversee and manage a group of 5—10 project managers;

Provide oversight in negotiating project agreements and utility contracts;

Manage overall responsibility for the project schedules developed by project managers;

Manage overall responsibility for the project budgets developed by project managers;

Oversee project reporting requirements of the project management group;

Review and approve project execution plans;

Collaborate with engineering management as needed for support of the projects during project design;

Collaborate with the construction team as needed for support of the projects during construction;

Collaborate with the commissioning team as needed for support of the projects during commissioning;

Collaborate with the operations team as needed for support of capital improvement projects;

Provide project reporting to senior management and external customers;

Communicate critical project action items and proposed solutions to senior management in a timely manner;

Identify opportunities to value engineer proposed designs;

Collaborate with project development team;

Review and respond to customer requests and RFP’s;

Assess project viability and risks;

Negotiate project agreements and utility agreements;

Evaluate utility requirements;

Evaluate gas interconnection and pipeline options;

Work with the engineering group to evaluate technology requirements;

Identify permit requirements and develop permit action plan;

Manage and hire consultants to support development and permitting;

Prepare preliminary schedule and budget;

Develop project execution pla;

Prepare and review project budgets and pro formas; and

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification:

BSME, BSChE or equivalent four-year technical engineering degree (preferred)

Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in energy projects, power generation or the industrial area in areas including, development, permitting, engineering, construction, commissioning and operation.

Additional Qualifications:

Advanced computer applications skills (Microsoft), including, Project, and Excel, Bluebeam and Smartsheets.

Ability to successfully complete training and testing required for the position.

Ability to work as part of a team and act quickly with minimal supervision.

Proven ability to manage and complete complex projects in a timely, cost-effective manner.

Demonstrated ability to interact and work with multi-functional teams including sales, customers, equipment vendors, contractors, multi-discipline engineers and utilities.

Excellent organization skills including ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.

Strong verbal, written, computer communication and technical presentation skills.

Experience in biogas and/or renewable natural gas projects.

Willingness to travel to jobsite during, development construction, commissioning, and operations

Current Professional Engineer (PE) registration (preferred).

Oil and gas industry experience including gas compression and/or separation.

Demonstrated electrical, mechanical process, and control systems aptitude.

Experience working with complex contracts and financing arrangements.

Experience working in equipment fabrication and construction.

Valid Driver License issued by state of residence and in good standing.
