TheInstructional Design Manageris part of the Global Talent Management Center of Expertise (CoE), primarily focused on the work of Learning and Leadership Development. In addition to creating new learning solutions, this person will lead the continuous improvement of existing learning solutions and global leadership curricula. Success in this role is achieved by collaborating, consulting and influencing peers and leaders across the TJX global organization. A strong emphasis on project management will enable the Instructional Design Manger to accomplish multiple priorities and align work of internal and external resources related to design, content development and translation/localization.

The Instructional Design Manager:

  • Designs, develops, tests, evaluates and supports the implementation of global learning solutions.

  • Assesses learning goals and objectives and determines learning strategies and solutions to align to needs.

  • Gathers, consolidates, and analyzes divisional feedback on training materials in development.

  • Provides recommendations and solutions to global talent leadership to gain agreement and alignment.

  • Gives direction and feedback to vendors to ensure expectations of deliverables are met.

  • Provides oversight of the testing of leadership development courses; including managing and preparing vendors, understanding divisional requirements and analysis and resolving feedback from test classes.

  • Ensures evaluation mechanisms are in place to measure the impact of learning programs/materials. Reports, analyzes, and shares evaluation feedback and recommendations for improvement.

  • Manages the course review and refresh process. Including trend analysis, observation, and gathering feedback to present recommendations for global prioritization of course refresh.

  • Conducts observation of courses and content review to ensure vendor agreements are upheld and global standards and governance are maintained.

  • Delivers feedback to global partners and peers to ensure adherence to agreements and standards.

  • Leads a global facilitator community of practice.

  • Oversees all translation projects for quality, timelines, budget and alignment to divisional priorities.

    The Instructional Design Manager will have skills and experience:

  • Designing and developing for multiple modalities, including eLearning, Instructor Led and Virtual Classrooms, and interactive documents

  • Adapting and learning new learning technologies, including development tools and delivery platforms

  • Effectively using project management techniques and tools

  • Holding non-direct reports accountable

  • Consulting with internal clients on learning needs

    The Instructional Design Manager will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Understand and communicate concepts quickly and accurately

  • Deliver simple and clear presentation of ideas, both written and verbal

  • Navigate cross divisional teams using influence, negotiation, consensus building, and adaptability

  • Focus on attention to detail, strong writing, editing and proofreading skills

  • Role model and practice leadership skills taught in learning solutions

    Preferred education and previous roles include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, Education or related field; or equivalent experience

  • 4-6 years’ in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, or Project Management, ideally in a global organization
