Sanofi Group Instrumentation and Controls Engineer in Framingham, Massachusetts
Sanofi is looking for a highly motivated Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join the R&D Automation team. The R&D Automation team is part of the Engineering, Automation and Technology Support team located in Framingham MA. Reporting to the Automation Associate Director, this position is responsible for providing day to day and project-based instrumentation and automation support for both cGMP and non-GMP groups within the R&D organization located in Massachusetts. Project work includes continuous improvement, retrofit, and capital investments to develop new technologies and optimize development and clinical manufacturing operations.
The Instrumentation and Controls Engineer III will be responsible for using instrumentation and controls expertise to design innovative solutions. These solutions span the areas of instrumentation, control panel design, and automation with a key focus on pushing new boundaries of Digital 4.0. The person will be responsible for maintaining and providing technical support, ensuring availability of the automation equipment and systems for multiple R&D facilities within the Framingham campus and Waltham locations.
Contribute to project work that includes continuous improvement, retrofit, and capital investments to develop new technologies and optimize development and clinical manufacturing operations
Work as an integral part of the Automation team to design, architect, troubleshoot, and deliver future enhancements for automation related systems, with a focus on the instrumentation and field controls
Provide technical support and maintenance of the control systems and related instrumentation for multiple R&D facilities within the Framingham campus and Waltham locations
Provide oversight to contractors for staff augmentation and/or project roles as needed
Provide technical solutions to a wide range of process automation related design challenges
Work collaboratively with inter-department and cross-functional teams to lead necessary changes in a timely and productive manner
Integrate systems and data from a variety of skidded systems, analytical equipment, and process/building control systems
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences or related discipline with a minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience or a Master’s degree with 4 years of relevant work experience
Experience with computerized systems (Rockwell, DeltaV, PI, etc.)
Experience working in regulated environments (i.e., cGMP, OSHA, EPA).
Knowledge of bus technologies and Instrumentation
Basic knowledge of validation requirements for control systems in CGMP and/or ASTM environments
Proficiency in computer programs and applications such as Windows, VBA, Microsoft Word, and Excel, Access, etc.
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and be accountable
Experience with DeltaV
Experience with SCADA/PLC systems, such as Rockwell FactoryTalk/RSLogix
Experience with Optima Fill/Finish equipment
Experience with control systems/network/validation
Experienced in establishment of safe practices in a cGMP environment
Proven technical and analytical skills to quickly resolve automation system issues
Understanding of data integrity principles and processes
Experience with IoT solution and edge devices
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
24/7 on-call support for emergencies as needed
Requires working in an industrial manufacturing environment including gowning
