South Middlesex Opportunity Council Intake Specialist, SBH in Framingham, Massachusetts
Summary: Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the service types and providers available in order to set up intake appointments for new clients of SBH. Work closely with SMOC programs to set-up quick appointments that help clients stay engaged in their treatment or recovery. The hours for this position are 11am to 7pm. Bilingual and Trilingual candidates are needed for this position.

Primary Responsibilities:
Assist programs and clients in person and over the phone in setting up diagnostic evaluations with an appropriately skilled provider at SMOC Behavioral Health.
Maintain and update daily an admission log of all intakes.
Manage and deliver weekly waitlist to the clinicial directors, make periodic contacts to clients awating services
Communicate with referring parties by email and phone who are inquiring about the status of clients waiting to be seen.
Work with directors as needed for programs requiring specialized documentation of new clients or referrals.
Maintain an up to date knowledge of clinicians area’s of specialization and availability working with clinicinas and their supervisors.
Document all necessary client demographics and billing information
Enter all new clients into the electronic health record
Check insurance eligilibilty, verify copay amounts, make sure clients understand the limits of their insurance coverage and any payments they will be expected to make.
Obtain initial authorizations when required by payers
Place clients into Substance Use Residential Recovery programs and enter clients into Virtual Gateway for BSAS enrollment.
Engage all clients by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of work.
Attend & participate in engagement team meetings as requested and communicate effectively with clients and staff in other areas.
Communicate effectively with clients and staff in other areas.
Maintain confidentiality of client, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements.
Ensure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements, as well as, SMOC policies & procedures.
Provide front desk coverage as needed
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Proficiency with Excel and word skills required
Customer service experience
Experience with authorizations preferred
English and Spanish highly preferred
Portuguese highly preferred
Organizational Relationship: Directly reports to Operations Manager. Indirectly reports to Clinical Directors
Physical Requirements: Periodic sitting and standing. Dress is business casual
Working Conditions: As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Intake Specialist will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required. Business casual dress is required.
