Advocates Intensive Hospital Diversion Therapeutic Training & Support in Framingham, Massachusetts


starting hourly rate:19.94/hour

The Intensive Hospital Diversion Therapeutic Training & Support staff member will participate in providing intensive, short-term, in-home crisis stabilization and treatment to youth and their families. They will collaborate with the Intensive Hospital Diversion Master’s Clinician to meet the needs of each family.

They will assist in the implementation of treatment plans which provide family and strength based clinical services to families in the home and community settings. He/she will assist in providing intensive family therapy and therapeutic training and support services. As a Therapeutic Mentor they will offer structured, one-to-one, strength-based support services to a youth under 21 for the purpose of addressing daily living, social, and communication needs. Therapeutic Mentoring services include supporting, coaching, and training the youth in age-appropriate behaviors, interpersonal communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution, and relating appropriately to other children, adolescents, and adults, in recreational and social activities pursuant to a behavioral health treatment plan developed by a clinical hub.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's Degree


  • Carry out therapeutic training and support services in accordance with each family’s treatment plan.

  • Assist in the coordination of treatment planning.

  • Assist in providing intensive family therapy.

  • Identify community resources and develop natural supports for youth and parent/guardian/caregiver

  • Assist in providing care coordination:

  • Attend weekly team meetings for each child

  • Provide collateral contacts for case coordination (phone and face to face)

  • Provide referrals and linkage to longer term supports and services

  • Coordinate and communicate to collaterals all aftercare planning

  • Provide coaching in support of decision making in both crisis and non-crisis situations.

  • Provide skills training for youth and parent/caregiver/guardian

  • Provide member/service recipient transportation as needed in connection with service delivery.

  • Conduct member outreach as needed to engage members and families.

  • Participate in Risk management/safety planning.

  • Engage youth in social, recreational, athletic, and artistic activities in the community.

  • Provide supportive services as outlined in the treatment plan.

  • Participate in all provider team meetings and collaborate and partner with youth, family, and collaterals to support the youth’s healthy functioning in the community.

  • Research and explore areas of youth’s interest and maintain a team resource log of available community supports.


  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field required

  • At least one year of experience working with children/families and adolescents in child development, childhood mental illness, and/or family issues.

  • Must complete in Home Therapy training program upon acceptance of position and prior to providing services.

  • Strongly prefer a candidate that will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.

  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to develop and maintain satisfactory working relationships with employees and providers.

  • High energy level, superior interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team atmosphere.

  • Must hold a valid drivers’ license. Must have access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport consumers.
