Staples Product Owner, Finance in Framingham, Massachusetts

Description

Responsible for product management activities for one or more finance products, or portions of key products. The product management function defines and develops, and introduces new capabilities, while managing cross-organization efforts to ensure alignment. Products tend to be process- and technology-based (e.g., Customer Invoicing Portal, Accounts Receivable & Cash Application Tools, Tax Exempt Certificate Management solutions). The Product Owner role is accountable for measuring the success of assigned products and supports justifying expenditures for products. They gather input to define product concepts such as analyzing external markets and evaluating new technologies. The Product Owner will be responsible for detailed requirements, feature definitions and implementation plans. They lead cross-functional teams to envision new product features. When approved, the Product Owner coordinates among a wide range of cross-functional internal and external resources to ensure that products get implemented per specifications.

Strong candidates will demonstrate proficiency in areas of finance and financial systems or processes. Effectively resolve problems and roadblocks as they occur. Interact with internal and external peers and/or managers to exchange information related to assigned activities. Coordinates with strategic partners and outside vendors when required, to ensure that product initiatives are well-defined.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Primary customers are Finance Process Owners and Subject Matter experts.

  • Rapidly develop solid working knowledge of systems and process related to key finance functions that could include International and Domestic technical accounting, treasury, tax, operational accounting, AP, AR, payroll, cash application, credit collections, tax exempt, or risk management.

  • Work with a cross-functional team to ensure fulfillment of product requirements, evaluate product performance and transition products from development to commercialization.

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining high level roadmap, create PI Objectives for each quarter, help team break down work.

  • Write business or systems stories for Accounting and Finance features.

  • Craft clear outcome-oriented acceptance criteria and identify early opportunities to establish Minimum viable product.

  • Drive continuous backlog refinement process, help run planning and review cycles. Participate in regular team retrospectives.

  • Write test cases and test Finance systems or process changes to ensure high quality deliverables for Accounting and Finance. Ensure feature enhancements respond to customer requests.

  • Responsible for product delivery, managing schedules, tasks and stakeholder communication.

  • Perform work under general supervision.

  • Handle moderately complex issues and problems and refer more complex issues to senior staff.

Qualifications

Basic Skills:

  • Accounting knowledge and Financial systems experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with 4 to 6 years’ experience

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
