Sanofi Group Senior Associate Scientist in Framingham, Massachusetts

Position Overview:

We are a pioneer in biologics innovation with the first approved nanobody drug, the first clinical stage tri-specific antibody, and novel synthetic biology for new engineering paths. Our global Large Molecule Research (LMR) platform focuses on antibodies, nanobodies and synthorins as therapeutic modalities in close partnership with other research platforms and Sanofi’s therapeutic areas (Immunology, Oncology, Rare Disease and Neurology) in the discovery and ultimate delivery of new candidate molecules into our pipeline.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Protein Engineering group within Sanofi LMR Department. Our Protein Engineering group has a great track record of patents and publications in Fc engineering and multi-specific antibodies (incl. Science, Nature), and has developed novel mode of actions with structure-based design. We have state-of-art structural biology capabilities and a yeast surface display platform within the group, offering a unique opportunity to collaborate closely on Protein Engineering projects. The primary responsibilities for this position will focus on the production and characterization of our engineered antibody variants in multiple formats using various platform technologies in support of our protein engineering efforts and Sanofi’s portfolio.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of experience or master’s degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant industry experience.

  • Requires hands-on experience in:

  • Molecular biology techniques, such as primer and construct design, site-directed mutagenesis and PCR.

  • Mammalian expression with HEK293, CHO or similar cell lines.

  • High throughput antibody production and purification using Protein A, G, Ni-NTA and similar workflows.

  • Antibody biochemical and biophysical characterization by SDS-PAGE/Lab Chip, SEC-HPLC and LAL endotoxin.

  • Experimental data capture and recording in electronic lab notebook and related databases.

  • The candidate should have excellent communication skills, the ability to present data in well-organized written and oral formats, and to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

  • Must have permanent US work authorization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of protein binding kinetics, epitope binning and quantitation techniques, such as SPR and BLI.

  • Experience with automated high throughput expression and purification systems, such as Qiagen, Hamilton, AKTA or similar.

  • Understanding of protein display platforms, such as yeast and phage display, ELISA and flow cytometry.

  • Familiarity with general antibody drug discovery process and antibody engineering methods.
