Staples Senior Data Analyst in Framingham, Massachusetts

What you’ll be doing

The Analyst will be responsible for driving analytics to support strategy. The Analyst will impact business results by delivering insightful and actionable analyses to influence strategy and key growth initiatives. This role requires an excellent collaborator, communicator, and analyst with extensive hands-on data experience. The successful candidate is a problem solver in a fast-moving and highly diverse environment and will be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring accuracy and timeliness are not compromised. In addition to strong analytical skills, the Analyst must be adept at communicating findings to senior leadership and business stakeholders across the organization in both verbal and presentation formats.

  • Perform value added ad-hoc analysis to support strategic initiatives. Develop reporting to track execution success.

  • Responsible for preparing analysis as well as presenting findings and recommendations.

  • Develop complex interactive/dynamic dashboards with various BI tools.

  • Work with large sets of data to build easily consumable data visualizations.

  • Analyze vast amounts of customer and product level data and make recommendations about improvements and opportunities for increasing sales and profit.

  • Produce and streamline regular weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting. Recommend additional “deep dive” analytics as appropriate.

  • Develop and maintain financial models to measure sales and margin impact as control variables change.

  • Improve existing data governance, analysis, and reporting processes to drive efficiency.

  • Management of multiple high profile projects.

What you bring to the table:

  • Strong strategic, analytical and critical thinking skills; strong bias towards data-based decision making with the ability to break down complex problems and formulate plans

  • Ability to pick up new systems and software quickly a must.

  • Strong business acumen and understanding of an e-commerce business.

  • Demonstrated experience in fact-based analysis, including the ability to derive insights and recommendations.

  • Pro-active and self-motivated work style with proven ability to collaborate broadly with flexible, positive attitude to get results within a cross-functional team.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities with demonstrated track record of strong execution and experience partnering with technical teams to deliver results

Qualifications :

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Finance, Statistics, Economics, Business or other related quantitative field.

  • 4-6 years of analytics, predictive modeling and reporting experience, preferably in e-Commerce or retail environment

  • Expertise in various data mining techniques and effective visualizations. Hands on experience with complex SQL queries and Tableau development.

  • Demonstrated strong proficiency at an advanced level in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Understanding key financial metrics and sales mechanics in e-Commerce (gross sales, net sales, profit)

What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or MBA Preferred with focus on analytics.

  • Knowledge of web analytical tools (Adobe Report Builder, Google Analytics) and A/B and multivariate testing or other industry standard web analytics and testing tools.

  • Alteryx, Tableau Prep or other data mining and statistical software knowledge added advantage

  • Experience in hypothesis testing, analysis of variance and regression models preferred.
