Software Development Engineer II

DUTIES: Perform Oracle EBS Applications database engineering and administration (DBA) tasks including patching, creating backup and recovery strategies, upgrading, performance tuning/optimization of Oracle EBS systems for recoverability, security, confidentiality, and integrity to ensure that: EBS applications and database configurations meet Oracle ERP goals, Oracle EBS requirements, and Staples standards; patches are applied on a timely basis; data integrity and security are maintained; backups are performed as scheduled or deemed necessary; and upgrades are made. Utilize Oracle EBS R12 applications DBA (AD) utilities to perform maintenance of the multi-node e-Business Suite environment with Shared File System, managing and administering Concurrent Managers, Concurrent Programs, Request Sets, Request Groups, Workflows, and troubleshooting Workflow Mailer/Notification issues; Oracle Real Applications Clusters (RAC) to maintain a clustered database to provide performance, scalability, and resilience with Automatic Storage Management (ASM) and Cluster Ready Services (CRS) in an AIX/Linux operating system (O/S); Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) and Data Guard for backup and disaster recovery; Oracle Application Manager (OAM) and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Grid Control for proactive monitoring and notification of system status; and Procedural Language/Structured Query Language (PL/SQL) packages, Shell, and Perl scripts for task automation. Proactively monitor, test, and report on Oracle EBS system integrity, security, and compliance measures. Identify opportunities to upgrade or replace software to meet the current and future requirements of business areas and end-users. Recommend changes and participate in the implementation and follow-up management of upgrades or replacements. Evaluate critical Oracle EBS security issues and make recommendations, such as disaster recovery plans and upgrades to new versions of Oracle EBS R12 or successor releases. Position is fixed location based in Framingham office; however, telecommuting from a home office may also be allowed.

Qualifications :

REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a directly related field plus five (5) years of experience in Oracle Financials infrastructure administration. Experience must include:

Five (5) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

  • Experience as an Oracle Applications DBA.

  • System analysis and design involving the following: data flow diagrams; data dictionary techniques; entity-relation modeling and design techniques; database troubleshooting; and installing and upgrading the Oracle server and application tools.

  • Working with physical disk storage involving understanding of disk hardware architecture and RAID implementation.

  • Relational database security including role-based security, including experience with Unix, Windows, ODBC, JDBC, and Shell scripting.

  • Installation, upgrade, patching, and support of Oracle databases 11g or 12c.

  • Oracle e-Business Suite R12 administration.

  • Working with physical disk storage involving system storage planning or fine tuning.

  • Backup and recovery methods including Veritas, Legato, or ADSM.
