Staples Sourcing Manager in Framingham, Massachusetts

Position Description:

The Strategic Sourcing Manager for Supply Chain is responsible for leading complex sourcing events including RFIs, RFPs, and competitive bids as well as establishing contracts and relationships with new suppliers, managing renewals and extensions with existing suppliers, and working with stakeholders to navigate the procure-to-pay process.

The Strategic Sourcing Manager for Supply Chain supports Staples Retail and NAD Supply Chain functions including but not limited to Transportation, Facilities, Asset Protection, and Retail Print Marketing Solutions. The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for specific projects and contract negotiations to achieve annual sourcing savings targets.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively collaborate with stakeholders to understand and achieve business strategies and objectives.

  • Execute sourcing strategies to provide enhanced value, revenue, total-cost reduction, continuous improvement and achieve savings targets.

  • Lead supplier selection, contract negotiation, and contracting process.

  • Lead contract negotiations including new contracts, renewals, and extensions.

  • Manage complex sourcing events including RFIs, RFPs, and competitive bids.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to manage the procure-to-pay process.

  • Provide stakeholders with best in class service through the entire sourcing process.

  • Act as liaison between Staples Legal team, Staples Risk team, Staples Privacy team, and Staples Cyber Security team with suppliers and business partners.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a supply chain role preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a procurement role preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communications.

  • Strong interpersonal skills/strong team player.

  • Strong project management/leadership skills.

  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen.

  • Ability to understand procurement protocols and processes.

  • Proficient in procurement systems – Coupa and/or other procure to pay systems.

  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization and suppliers.

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to “take the ball and run” with minimal direction.

  • Demonstrated ability to generate cost reduction savings.
