Kaman Distribution Manufacturing Engineer - Panel Shop in Franklin, Massachusetts
Kaman Automation is seeking a self-motivated Manufacturing Engineer for our electrical controls panel shop based in Franklin, MA. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for managing projects and providing technical support for manufacturing process development, controls, startup, and continuous improvement for our panel shop technicians.

Management of electrical control equipment programs for new and existing products, including cost estimation, justification, design, development, implementation, and validation.
Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians; answer questions regarding system documentation as needed driving issue resolution.
Maintain product and company reputation by complying with customer requirements, regulations and export rules; provide project status updates to customers when needed.
Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
Evaluate manufacturing processes for improvement by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation in accordance with the KACE ISO-9001 requirements; drive on-time delivery for production.
Design and document custom packaging requirements as required.
Completes other tasks as assigned by management.
Education and Experience:
Technical degree or equivalent from 4 year college or technical school or 3-5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing processes and electrical equipment such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), electro-mechanical controls, motor controllers and other common industrial control equipment.
An in-depth knowledge of panel building and assembly.
Proficient in technical and electrical/mechanical problem solving.
Knowledge in testing and measurement techniques and procedures.
Familiar in document release and revision control.
Strong background in Lean Manufacturing
Proven experience in people management
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Essential to the Position:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong math and logistical skills
Strong computer skills including knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel and AutoCAD software
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Lead and proactively participate in cross-functional teams
Communicate and gain consensus within all levels of the organization
Ability to use high precision inspection equipment and hand tools
Must be able to determine percent’s, apply pricing multipliers, discounts and calculate margins when given cost and sale price.
Standing, walking, and sitting for a majority of the time
Must be capable of periodic air travel
Use of hands and arms to touch, lift, reach, etc.
Talking and hearing for a majority of the time
Lifting and/or exerting up to 30 lbs. of weight/force frequently and up to 70 lbs. with or without approved mechanical equipment of weight /force
A valid driver’s license is required
