Sr. Manager, Business Development

Are you passionate about commercializing innovation? We are in search of an experienced sales leader to drive growth of a new product for the surveillance of in-air pathogen. The primary objectives of this role are to build out pipeline of key customer targets, manage commercial relationships with early customers, build relationships and drive demand generation for rapidly growing business. The Sr. Business Development Manager will understand segment specific customer needs, develop business cases based on market insights and growth targets, and provide the commercial perspective to the internal team. The candidate will become an expert on the product / solution and the key applications and use cases. This role will work closely with customer support on managing the customer relationships and experience while also owning the customer contract negotiation process. This is an opportunity for an experience sales professional to work rapidly to develop a commercial strategy and potentially build out a commercial process and team.


  • Build out target account lists for key segments; identify new segments for growth

  • Develop demand generation strategy and pipeline

  • Identify and execute key areas of growth for the vertical including customer expansion, partnership, and product development.

  • Support key channel and testing partners' interactions with the end user

  • Subject matter specialist, providing insights and strategic direction internally to the business unit leaders and marketing manager

  • Manage a business development team individ

  • Build trust and relationships with customers and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to identify growth opportunities

  • Manager internal, cross-business and functional relationships to drive demand and coordinate sales opportunities.

  • Manages deals with customers; structuring, negotiating and closing


  • 5-10 years business development or commercial experience

  • Experience selling to senior level executives and government officials

  • Experience developing multi-year, large volume/dollar amount deals

  • Experience launching and building pipeline for new products

  • Experience structuring and negotiating contracts

  • Working knowledge of CRM systems (e.g. SFDC)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team​

  • Bachelors degree required


  • High level government purchasing experience or experience in Government economic development / business development roles

  • Experience selling to large hospitals and/or healthcare system leaders
