Job Description: General Statement of Duties Coordinate the budget process, prepare reporting and research budget variances, analyze and reconcile budgets. Preparation and assistance with forecasting, projections, current and multi-year planning. Financial analysis, research with accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards for the College. System work including automation of functions, processing and reporting. Provides technical solutions to business problems using their strong background in finance and accounting along with experience in system implementations and maintenance to maximize efficiencies for end users. Supports the Comptroller, Assistant Comptroller, Director of Student Financial Services, and Vice President of Finance and Administration in other financial analysis and accounting procedures. This position must work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Responsibilities Serve the College as the Subject Matter Expert in Budgeting including establishing the initial budgeting process, regular monitoring of budget to actuals, tracking of edits and amendments, and overall communication and back up of the budget. Coordinate in the preparation and updating of the State Appropriations Budgets. Coordinate to handle and resolve issues (internal and external) regarding the budget. Coordinate to recommend changes/improvements in accounting, budgeting and reporting procedures. Conduct training and professional development sessions related to the budgeting process and procedures; Financial Analysis, specialized accounting reports, adhoc analysis, reconciliations and tie outs to provide more in depth analysis components of revenue and expenses and net impact of various segments of the College; Ongoing projections throughout the year and maintaining a rolling 3 year budget; Work collaboratively with respective teams to design business processes in systems configuration activities including the build, testing, validation, and documentation of system changes. Work with the technical team to translate the business requirements to technical requirements and coordinate with the technical teams to obtain the desired functionality, including reporting and system interfaces; Assist in identification of opportunities for implementation of new system features or features not currently in use, make recommendations and work with end-users to implement features or changes to improve efficiencies; Provide technical and functional support, consultation and training to functional staff on the appropriate use of programs; Support the VP of Finance and Administration with assessment of the effectiveness of processes and systems within Finance and Student Financial Services; Coordinate to evaluate chart of accounts by request and make recommendations; Participate in the review and implementation of new financial software or upgrades to existing software under the direction of the IT department; Produce standard operating procedures manuals for routine processes to facilitate complex transactions and to standardize procedures as needed; Complete duties and responsibilities in compliance with College standards, policies and guidelines; Research and attend professional accounting training including training on compliance and best practices related to college financial reporting; Use interpersonal skills and make sound judgments to recommend how duties and responsibilities are completed between coworkers, the supervisory chain, faculty, staff, students, and customers; Participates in the development of outcomes, monitors assessment of those appropriate outcomes, and assists in the development of plans of action for improvement based on the assessment of those outcomes; Support the values and institutional goals as defined in the College's Strategic Plan; Performs other duties
