What is Agency with Choice (AWC)?

The Agency with Choice (AWC) Program is a DDS program model for individuals and families to have an increased level of self-determination through both the choice and design of the service that they select while an individual resides in their home. The Arc of Opportunity acts as the Agency that partners with and supports these individuals and their families that wish to share the responsibilities of selecting their support staff and directing their day-to-day activities. AWC offers a co-employment model in which the Arc of Opportunity is the employer of record, assisting the family with the training and management of support professionals. The Arc of Opportunity supports the family by managing personnel policies and responsibilities, while the participant and family retain the responsibility for the daily supervision of the employee (AWC Direct Support Professional).
