GILL - Director of Major Gifts Salary Range: \$120,000.00 To 130,000.00 Annually Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH) seeks a highly motivated and experienced development professional serving in a critical fundraising and management role in securing philanthropic revenue for NMH and expanding donor support. The Director of Major Gifts manages a team of fundraising professionals and reports to and collaborates with the Senior Director of Development and leadership team in developing strategic and operational plans for major gifts growth as part of campaign efforts. This position also includes partnership with other Directors to ensure an appropriate suite of services and support are in place for all frontline staff. A Day in the Life: In this position, the Director of Major Gifts is responsible for ensuring a growing pipeline of philanthropic support of gifts of \$25K and above for all areas of support. This position manages a robust portfolio of potential donors and is responsible for cultivating and soliciting major gifts (\$100K+) along with other management duties. The Director of Major Gifts plays a leadership role in the continued creation and integration of the tools, training, and approaches needed to develop and nurture the frontline team. The Director of Major Gifts sets and tracks metrics, hires and reviews direct reports, trains and mentors staff, and provides ongoing leadership partnership in developing strategies and growth for frontline work. Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor\'s Degree, at a minimum. At least eight (8) years of development experience in major gifts and development work. Proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership gifts at all levels, including the seven-figure level. Mentorship and training orientation towards team building and experience with direct management of gift officers and other development staff. Experience with comprehensive campaigns. Excellent interpersonal skills (in person and by phone), communication skills (verbal and written) and organizational skills. Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy and deadlines. Ability to work independently and as part of an energetic team. Creative, flexible, and able to prioritize and multitask while maintaining high standards of quality in all work products and meeting deadlines. Solution-seeker and creative problem-solver. Embraces a strategic and metrics-based approach to fundraising. Abilily to manage numerous projects and tasks simultaneously. Is culturally competent and has a sensitivity and understanding of a diverse constituency. Belief in, commitment to, and ability to articulate NMH?s mission. Strong familiarity with development systems and procedures best practices. Strong strategic and analytical skills. Ability to travel. Fundraising database experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in and understanding of private education. Familiarity with boarding schools. Cross-cultural competency and comfort with international fundraising practices. This is an in-office position.
