Northfield Mount Hermon School Overnight Nurse in Gill, Massachusetts

MOUNT HERMON Overnight Nurse Academic year position, beginning one week prior to the start of the academic year and ending one week after graduation. Overnight hours are structured as either three 12-hour shifts or four10-hour shifts. Working every other weekend is required. Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH) seeks an experienced LPN to join our team at the O\'Connor Health and Wellness Center in caring for our student body. This position includes a generous shift differential and requires working every other weekend during the academic calendar, with time off at our November, December, and March breaks. Please see attached for the shift differential details. The nurse will be responsible for patient assessments and development of treatment plans according to clinic protocols, with the support of our school physician, nurse practitioner, and counseling team. All nursing staff assist in the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records. A Day in the Life: The Overnight LPN at the O\'Connor Health and Wellness Center plays an essential role in maintaining the health and well-being of our diverse student body, which includes 630 residential and day students from 30 U.S. states and 60 countries. The center operates 24/7 during the academic year, with a medical provider available on-site Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, ensuring comprehensive support and collaboration after hours and on weekends. The LPN conducts thorough assessments of students\' physical and mental health, following established treatment protocols and effectively communicating with the on-call provider when necessary. This role involves developing personalized treatment plans and administering medications in accordance with state guidelines. Additionally, the LPN provides compassionate care for inpatient students, handling meals and bed linens while keeping parents informed about their children\'s well-being. Through this vital support, the Overnight LPN helps students navigate the challenges of boarding school life, from managing their first cold away from home to addressing more serious medical and mental health struggles, while fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment. Required Skills and Qualifications: RN diploma/degree or LPN diploma/degree required Must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Three to five years of emergency, adolescent, or family medicine nursing experience is ideal. Good assessment and organizational skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and work collaboratively as a member of a team Interest in making a difference in the lives of adolescents Ability to practice confidentiality Ability to use technical and medical equipment Ability to lift 30 pounds Ability to visually assess medical needs Competent computer skills; ability to maintain electronic records and use word processing software.
