Berkshire Co-op Market* Custodian in Great Barrington, Massachusetts
Berkshire Food Co-op is seeking an energetic and reliable Custodian Team Member, who is an essential part of the store operations and succeeds in providing a beautiful, clean, safe, well-maintained environment. Overall duties will include removing trash and debris, maintaining both interior and exterior common areas, restocking bathrooms, promptly responding to clean up spills and broken glass, and aiding in department maintenance and upkeep. This position will work closely with and report to the Store Supervisor to carry out an effective cleaning schedule. Responsibilities & Duties (other duties may be assigned) - Embrace teamwork within the Co-op, creating a positive, vibrant work environment - Responds to calls for spills and pick-ups; following Co-op and OSHA safety procedures when working with chemicals, spills, etc. - Perform maintenance and janitorial duties throughout the store to ensure a beautiful, clean, safe and well-maintained environment - Maintain proper department conditions and supplies (sales floor, department work stations, cafe seating area, receiving area, etc.), such as fronting and cleaning shelves - Removes litter and rubbish from main receiving areas - Maintains and adheres to cleaning schedule - When applicable, places safety hazard signs in and around the building, including wet floor warning signs - When needed, assists in receiving and breaking down product delivery Skills and Requirements: - Must be at least 18 years old - Availability to work nights Wednesday - Saturday - Strong attention to detail skills - Customer service & communication skills - Knowledge of various cleaning products and when to use them; knowledge of safety guidelines when working with chemical cleaners - Ability to clean and disinfect various services - Excellent time management skills - Good problem solving skills - Has a positive attitude and friendly demeanor and desire to service the general public Schedule: - Wednesday - Saturday , 11:30 AM - 7:30 PM Physical Requirements: - Must be able to stand and walk up to 8 hours a day - Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds independently or with assistance on an occasional to frequent basis - Ability to use fine motor skills - Ability to adapt to changes in temperature - Ability to bend, stoop, reach, crouch, kneel, push, pull and twist repeatedly - Ability to use a two-way radio
