Berkshire Co-op Market* Meat & Seafood Team Member in Great Barrington, Massachusetts
Job Type: Full- or part-time Pay: \$16.50 - \$18 per hour Berkshire Food Co-op is looking for a candidate who shares a passion for local, natural, organic foods and is looking to expand their experience with Meat & Seafood. The Meat & Seafood Team Member is in charge of serving, slicing, packaging, weighing, and selling customers fresh meat & seafood. They maintain the presentation and cleanliness of the department, including the display cases, and will perform cleaning and closing procedures. Experience is preferred, but not required. We are more than happy to train the right person! Responsibilities & Duties (other duties may be assigned) - Embrace teamwork within the Co-op, creating a positive, vibrant work environment - Practices a total store approach to customer service, responds promptly to customer service needs and inquiries - Follow approved procedures for receiving, preparing, storing, and price marking, arranging, and restocking products to ensure quality, accuracy and product rotation and protection - Identifies and logs product shrink - Daily set up and ongoing maintenance of customer facing displays - Maintain food safety and sanitation standards; maintains a clean and safe work area - Thoroughly follows the closing department checklist, ensuring product is put away, workstation is sanitized and clean, and department is ready for the opener Skills and Requirements: - Must be at least 18 years of age - Strong customer service skills - Strong verbal communication skills - Strong attention to detail skills - A desire to continuously learn and grow with the Co-op - Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 35 lbs., and occasionally lift 50-60 lbs. - Ability to operate Meat & Seafood Department equipment such as grinders, wrapping machines, knives and cutters - Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift - Ability to work in changing temperatures
