GREENFIELD - SEE WEBSITE FOR FULL JOB DESCRIPTION - Advisor & Success Coach (Academic Counselor) GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES Reporting to the Director of Advising & Transfer the Academic Advisor & Success Coach will be a critical member of the Academic Advising Center team within Enrollment Services. Greenfield Community College utilizes a case management model to support students\' academic success and retention. In addition to providing direct service to students, the Academic Advisor & Success Coach will serve as a liaison to academic departments in order to maintain and disseminate relevant program, transfer, and career information related to specific programs. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Conduct new student advising for incoming students across a range of majors: Determine degree and course sequence requirements; Evaluate course placement upon entrance into the college; Assess program selection and goals; Introduce students to critical deadlines, policies, and tools; Use a proactive advising model to manage a caseload of students throughout the academic year: Assist students with setting goals and identifying and overcoming potential obstacles; Monitor student academic progress; Collaborates with other support services to meet the personal, social, emotional, and academic needs of new and continuing students; Collaborate with academic programs to maintain and share advising related information and facilitate smooth transitions to faculty advisors; Serve as the primary point of contact for students and faculty advisors to address student success needs and concerns (such as withdrawals, Early Progress Reports, navigating academic policies, referrals to campus and community resources, etc.); Attend and contribute to regular Academic Advising Center meetings and activities; Participate in Enrollment Events; Participate in professional development related to the duties of the position; Performs special projects and related responsibilities as initiated and requested MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Master\'s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related field; Three (3) years experience in college admissions, academic advisement, career development, or program/project management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; Demonstrated experience with effective advising to students with a variety of diverse characteristics including racial and ethnic diversity, learning style differences, and variety of age and life experiences; Experience with mentoring, motivation, incentive and leadership to students; Working knowledge of interpret privacy regulations governed by FERPA; Experience with technology to track and analyze data, produce reports, and design presentations; Excellent written communication skills. *SUPPLEMENTAL SOFT SKILLS: Excellent oral communication skills and interpersonal skills; Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with college students, staff and administrators. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bilingual Experience in a community college with open enrollment practices; Experience with student management systems such as Banner, EAB, Starfish, etc. *EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: Applicants who do not meet the qualifications as stated above are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience required for the responsibilities of this position.
