The Salasin Project Family Support Advocate in Greenfield, Massachusetts

GREENFIELD Bilingual/Bicultural Individual & Family Support Advocate Salasin Project supports individuals and families that have experienced domestic violence. Salasin applies a wellness orientation to provide empowerment-based peer advocacy and assistance. We welcome applicants of all races; cultures; sexual orientations; gender expressions; abilities; and incomes; especially those with lived experiences of sexual and domestic violence; receiving basic needs assistance, and/or interacting with child protective services. People who identify as being in recovery from a history of substance misuse are encouraged to apply. Salasin is committed to recruiting; training and supporting staff who identify as Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC). We will gladly provide training and mentoring as needed for candidates with lived experience who demonstrate a commitment and passion for the Salasin mission and values. Bilingual/Bicultural Individual and Family Support Advocate Fulltime (32 hrs/wk) benefitted position starting at \$23.25 (plus language stipend) Provide strength based, trauma informed outreach and peer support including home and/or community visits Support families/individuals in their efforts to create safety; advocate with families in navigating systems including the civil and criminal legal system and child protection; and assist families in accessing community supports Co-lead support groups The position includes driving through out Franklin County Preferred Qualifications: Lived experience with basic needs benefits, and/or child protective services; understanding of substance use, misuse and recovery General Qualifications: Bilingual/Bicultural with ability to provide advocacy and support in Spanish; English proficiency required; Lived experience of sexual/domestic violence; comprehensive understanding of the centrality of trauma; Demonstrated experience working with individuals of diverse racial, cultural, religious backgrounds and individuals/families with limited incomes; particularly the Hispanic/Latinx community; must have valid ID, good driving record, and reliable transportation.
