GREENFIELD Non-CDL Operator SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Operator\'s primary responsibilities are to operate safely and efficiently his or her assigned vehicle on a Demand Response schedule in accordance with the time schedule or manifest allotted for that route. In conjunction with this function, the Operator acts as a front-line customer service representative of the Company and must use her or his sound judgment, communication skills, and professional knowledge to assist customers with information, resolve problems and conflicts where possible, and assure passenger safety. He or she must also complete all required associated paperwork, daily, in a prompt and accurate fashion. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties listed below are representative of those performed by an Operator: Obtain and maintain a Massachusetts Commercial DPU License, and DOT Medical Card. Report to garage, perform circle check to assigned vehicle, and report any defects prior to beginning his or her assigned run. Drive his or her vehicle in a safe, defensive manner on the route and time schedule specified. Assist customers with information, transfers, and problems as required. Collect proper fare(s), check transfers and passes for validity, and challenge when appropriate. Report to Dispatcher any unusual occurrences which occur on your route or vehicle at the time of occurrence. Complete an Incident or Accident Report for any such occurrence. Adhere to all FRTA and FTM policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local laws and regulations. In the event of an accident, follow accident information collection, reporting, and other procedures before proceeding with clearance of Dispatcher and/or Supervisor on scene. Carry all required documents and paperwork while driving and complete appropriate paperwork upon completion of assigned run. Participate in training as required by FTM and FRTA. Other associated functions may be relevant to the position and prescribed from time to time. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: A high school diploma or GED is required. Experience: Driving transporting passengers and customer service experience is strongly preferred. Possession of a current D License and the ability to obtain a DPU, and obtain a medical card is required at time of employment, or within a specified period thereafter. Knowledge: Incumbent must be able to read and write. Physical Requirements: Incumbent must meet physical, medical, and mobility requirements for operation of a commercial vehicle. Must be able to physically assist passengers who are disabled to include pushing or pulling large wheelchairs. Must be capable of working evening and/or weekend hours as required. Interpersonal Skills: Must have excellent communication skills for positive interactions with other Company personnel, public agency personnel, and the public. Must be capable of responding to customer inquiries, concerns, suggestions, and complaints. Must be able to remain calm in stressful situations and must be able to adapt to changes within the operation, service, or environment. Work Environment: The work environment is primarily outdoors with exposure to weather, bus fumes, oils and grease, accident sites and traffic hazards, and some hazardous materials. Position requires sitting in an Operator\'s seat for extended periods of time. Incumbent must be comfortable with occasional work alone in a non-populated area at night and must be able to work in the evening and on weekends as necessary with the understanding that schedules could vary according to operational needs. Supervision: This position is supervised by the Operations Manager, FTM, Inc. Schedule TBD- 1 weekend day a must
