Job Summary:

The Health & Safety Specialist facilitates and communicates all Health and Safety (H&S) programs and policies to our operations in Groveland, MA. Supports the organization by implementing H&S standards and procedures. Conducts employee health and safety trainings. Responds to emergencies, investigate accidents, and recommends corrective and preventive actions.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Ensures effective delivery of all Health & Safety related training and maintain records.

  • Aids in the development and ensures compliance with corporate and/or local policies, standards and procedures.

  • Participates as an evacuation emergency coordinator and first responder to medical emergencies. Additionally, updates emergency action plan as needed and ensure appropriate training.

  • Maintains H&S metrics of factory performance and provide monthly reporting.

  • Actively participates and facilitates all factory led safety team meetings.

  • Assists in the management of occupational health programs related to hearing conservation, personal protection equipment (PPE) and bloodborne pathogens (First Aid Teams).

  • Maintains Lock-out, Tag-out (LOTO) program working directly with operations, maintenance and contractors.

  • Leads investigation of work-related injuries in conjunction with supervisors/managers, facilitates action planning to prevent re-occurrence.

  • Maintains all OSHA logs and required record keeping requirements.

  • Coordinates reporting, tracking, and trend analysis of workplace injuries when they occur and ensures corporate reporting standards are followed.

  • Participates in the management of operation-specific H&S hazard assessments and the development of risk mitigation plans.

  • Works with vendors to ensure inspections, emergency response and first aid training is conducted.

  • Leads H&S Audits and ensure timely corrective action for discrepancies.

  • Maintains hazardous waste program requirements including container labeling, weekly inspections and profiling of waste streams.

  • Ability to train others in a classroom setting or onsite.

  • Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects concurrently in a deadline-centric environment.

  • Passionate and self-motivated to excel.

  • Strong presentation skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; concentration in Health & Safety or a related technical discipline preferred.

    Desired Qualififcations:

  • 2 or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment leading safety compliance.

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP): Board of Certified Safety Professionals.

  • OSHA-10 Hour Certification.

  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.

  • Experience in working in manufacturing industries.

  • Experience with risk and statistical analysis.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The noise and temperature level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee is occasionally required to work in a moderately uncomfortable environment, i.e., high heat and/or noise while visiting factory sites.
