HADLEY Garden Center Supervisor OVERVIEW: The primary responsibility of the Garden Center Supervisor (GCS) is to ensure an exceptional and unique experience for our customers with quality service, merchandising and ambiance. Additionally, the GCS serves as the Lead Merchandiser, and is responsible for creating hard goods displays and departmental themes inside the store that are attractive, creative, inspire our customers and convert them from browsers to purchasers. The GCS will increase sales by maintaining a deep knowledge of the retail hard good and conservatory products developing sales strategies, and ensuring that sales teams are fully trained and executing these strategies to meet sales goals. RESPONSIBILITIES: OVERALL Communicate and work with ALL store teams to ensure effective zone coverage, with the goal of providing excellent service and remaining visible and available to the customer. Cultivate a deep knowledge of the products we sell and remain current on industry, store and company recommendations and offers for earth friendly gardening solutions. Remain current on all retail division promotions and offers, events, and educational opportunities. Cultivate an understanding of our customer, what they are looking for and how we can meet their needs. Assist Store Manager in setting strategic goals for the store. Manage the weekly department schedule to meet payroll budget goals and ensure adequate department coverage. Responsible for accurate payroll oversight and approval of all team timesheets. Manage monthly expense budgets as set by the Store Manager. Set the weekly team tasks necessary to achieve goals and manage the daily operations. Make recommendations to the Buying team about products requested by customers, items to add to buying hot lists, and customer feedback as it applies to product quality and availability. In partnership with Marketing Supervisor, ensure effective signing in all responsible departments through sign requests and ensuring timely and proper placement. Maintain a culture of safety throughout the organization ? train, communicate, and adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Maintain a professional appearance, including company uniform compliance at all times. Partner with custodial staff to ensure cleanliness throughout the store. Must be present and punctual for all assigned shifts, work a flexible schedule when needed, including evenings, holidays and weekends. TEAM LEADERSHIP All Supervisors are actively engaged in the daily operations of their departments, ensuring that all staff are efficiently and effectively accomplishing their tasks. Supervisors will spend approximately 70% of their time working side-by-side with their team, and 30% in management duties. Responsible for hiring of staff for Customer Service, Cashiers, Conservatory and Annuals. Conduct performance management process, including giving and receiving feedback, reviews, coaching, counseling, through weekly one-on-ones with direct reports and regular team meetings. Responsible for ensuring that all staff receive required and ongoing training. Develop and implement standards of efficiency and productivity for staff. Clearly communicate goals, individual team member roles and responsibilities, timelines for completion, ownership and accountability.
