This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative international environment navigating multiple technologies, systems, processes, organizations, sites, cultures and practices to understand & validate issues and facilitate solutions. The Distribution Center GM position has responsibility for the day-to-day operations of MKS Instruments Ward Hill, MA (DC), and multi-site storerooms. The Ward Hill facility is a multi-functional operating environment which incorporates multiple shifts with responsibility for; kitting processes, warehousing, replenishment of products, shipping, receiving, picking, packing and fulfillment. The site support both internal and external customers and is an integral part of MKS global network.

This role requires excellent leadership and hands-on people skills to build motivate and mentor others enabling MKS Instruments to provide quality products and remarkable customer service levels in a timely and safe operating setting.

This key member of the Operations team will support the development and implementation of business-focused Operations initiatives that drive continuous improvement throughout the business as well as identify supply chain solutions to create a sustainable competitive advantage amongst the 4 pillars of safety, cost, quality, and service.

The DC GM will be focused on both daily (tactical) and mid-long term (strategic) planning to ensure we deliver 100% OTD and are set-up to keep pace with WFE industrial growth.

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a Distribution Center GM, at MKS Instruments, Inc. you will be focused on both daily (tactical) and mid-long term (strategic) planning to ensure we deliver 100% OTD and are set-up to keep pace with WFE industrial growth. In this role, you will report to the Sr Manager, Global Logistics.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Lead in the development of initiatives to improve warehouse/distribution efficiencies.

  • Monitor quality, cost, and efficiency of the movement and storage of raw goods and customer fulfillment.

  • Implement warehouse operations policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with Operations leadership team as necessary.

  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; conducting GEMBA walks and ensure the site achieves 6S goals.

  • Actively works to manage space constraints and minimize the utilization of inventory areas.

  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions as necessary.

  • Review financial statements, safety, and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.

  • Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing, shipping, of products or materials.

Skills You Bring:

  • Demonstrated success in managing DCs with >$100M in materials.

  • ERP proficiency with Oracle strongly preferred.

  • Lean Six/Sigma and/or CPIM /CSCP strongly preferred.

  • Possess a high-level understanding in the areas of WMS and TMS with implementation experience.

  • Demonstrated change agent in implementing and driving Lean Manufacturing principles, TQM, Kaizen, and/or Six Sigma.

  • High level of business acumen, including financial, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills,

  • Demonstrated development of high-performing staff members and managing out low-performing associates

  • Associate-centered leadership– openness to change and feedback (Vocally Self-Critical)

  • Hands-on leader- walks the floor with the purpose of connecting with their workforce.

  • High degree of emotional intelligence – can communicate and build rapport in all directions, including the ability to manage upwards (push back)

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Finance or Business Management is preferred or equivalent work experience required.

  • 10+ years managerial experience in positions with increasing responsibilities required.

  • Strategic thinker and hands-on problem solver that possesses integrity and leadership.

  • Proven ability to develop, lead and culturally drive an environment of high productivity and cost effectiveness.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively with people at all levels.

  • Ability to achieve business results through influence, executive presence, strategic thinking and effective problem-solving skills.

    Computer Operations

  • Evaluate/implement technology, conduct RFPs and participate in making choices for the organization that have an appropriate balance between cost/benefit today and future implications and limitations.

  • Manage and track team velocity, financials, and productivity KPIs in relation to the plan and published progress reports daily/weekly as appropriate.

  • Create a method of change management including ownership of documentation, communication plans, process and training.

    Physical Demands/Work Environment/Travel Requirements:

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk the DC floor handle objects and machinery, climb stairs, kneel or crouch and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • Travel required: Travel as required throughout the immediate geographic area to visit manufacturing and storage locations for the purpose of conducting site visits and/or the delivery (white glove) of key components to ensure continuous manufacturing.
