We are looking for an Community Mental Health Ambassador to work in our MOMS Partnership® program which reduces depressive symptoms for over-burdened under-resourced mothers by bringing mental health supports within reach. Viability is seeking an individual to work as a part of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and community outreach workers, conducting structured interviews (via telephone, in person, and web-based), co-facilitating groups, performing assessments, and engaging community members and stakeholders.
Position: Community Mental Health Ambassador
Location: Springfield/Holyoke, MA
Hours: 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm; occasional nights and weekends
Summary: Serve as liaison between mental health/social services and community in order to facilitate access to services and to improve the quality and cultural competence of services delivery for mothers. Provide culturally-informed, gender-responsive, and trauma-informed outreach, information, education and mental health care in community-based settings. Receive training in the MOMS Partnership model and intervention, then co-lead MOMS groups—which are classes designed to help mothers build stress management skills and achieve reduced depressive symptoms—alongside a clinician.
Qualifications: Two years of related work experience and a high school level education or the equivalent combination of experience and education. Community Health Worker Training preferred. Knowledge and familiarity with local neighborhoods and other cultural competence. Comfort with diverse community of residents. Excellent organizational, verbal, telephone, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as part of a team and meet deadlines. Communication and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Access. Broad basic computer knowledge, including web browsing, emailing, spreadsheets, and Word documents. Community Health Worker Training preferred.
